Verizon preorders start June 6

"Customers that purchase a Galaxy S III will need to subscribe to a 4G LTE mobile broadband data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data."

So is that the end of unlimited data, or since they haven't announced the new pooled plans, can we keep our unlimited data?

I'd like to know this as well.

Bombard @VZWSupport on twitter. They're not responding to me, but maybe they'll be forced to clarify if enough people ask.

I'm pretty sure we can still keep unlimited data. Nothing has been announced yet. Unless that announced comes tomorrow haha.

Guys don't forget that getting a 2gig plan on Verizon means a 4gig plan of LTE, according to the ads I've seen from them, for the same 30 price. Which is only one 1 gig less of the "unlimited data" we have been getting from them. Read the fine print.

No fine print to read. LTE is unlimited. I'm at 9 gigs so far this month.

Verizon has previously said that if you get a phone ON CONTRACT you will be forced to get one of the new data plans. Not sure exactly when this starts, but when it does take affect the only way to keep unlimited will be to buy the phone completely off contract.

Right, so that's the question--when does it take effect? I want to buy it on contract on Wednesday, but because the new data plans haven't taken effect, will I be forced onto a limited plan, or will I be allowed to keep unlimited? We know they're killing unlimited, but they haven't implemented the new pricing policy.

I'm ready to jump ship from my Bionic but I'm wondering about the full retail price.

Hey guys, I have a quick question regarding the pre-ordering.

I would love to pre-order this phone for my wife and I as we are jumping ship from Sprint to Verizon due to spotty at best service. We plan on purchasing our phones at best buy because of their offer of a $50 gift card for new phone purchases. Will I be able to purchase the actual phone at best buy if I go through the Verizon pre-order page?

Thanks for your help!

I love my Bionic but I'm ready for something new. The GSIII looks perfect. I'm curious about the off contract pricing cause I'm not up for upgrade till May.

Wouldn't b shocked to see the droid razr hd be released in June. Folks will buy S3 realize screen sucks in sunlight its a battery hog and signal quality sucks because there Samsung. Also its just a galaxy not a droid galaxy so support will suck for it
I would assume it will too. The Nexus is 6 months old, which is about the time devs get a bit itchy for something new. And there's nothing else comparable on the horizon. It's gonna be the best phone on Verizon for a while, unless HTC has something up its sleeve.

uhm...support for the Droid line hasn't exactly been stellar. Droid doesn't mean support, just heavily advertised. Software support on verizon is going to suck regardless of what's in front of the name.

my upgrade is not coming due until June 22nd. I want to pre-order on June 6th, does anyone know if Verizon will bump up my upgrade by a few weeks???

I wonder what would happen to those with unlimited plans if they pre-order on the 6th and VZW changes/eliminates the grandfather unlimited plan before the phone ships.

won't hurt to call and ask.

I will be calling this evening for sure. I am afraid that if I wait until the 22nd. The phone will be on back order, and I'll have to wait another month or so. I am not a patient man!

DAMN....I wonder can I float a car payment and defer my $110 UNLIMITED cell phone 1 month...SMDH!!
