Verizon preorders start September 6th at 9 am EST

Yep very serious, Google doesn't support SD cards any more and Samsung's history of breaking SD cards. Removable battery is a joke. Breaking plastic tabs on the cover loose covers doing battery pulls ha no thanks.

I agree with this. I don't like sd cards and removable batteries either. Never used sd cards even when there was a slot for them. Give me plenty of on board storage and memory. No 16 GB devices for me.

I can understand not using/liking SD cards, and never wanting to pull the battery or swap it out. I just don't understand the sentiment that the addition of these things is a deal breaker. "Oh that Ferrari? It's got heated seats, I'll never use those. I'm not going to buy it simply because of this." If you don't use them/want them, don't use them? On the flip side, I can see how not having these things is a deal breaker if it's something you need/want in a phone. There a bunch of S Pen features I'll never use on the Note 3, but I still want this phone.

Did it over the phone with telesales, no problem once they had it show up on their system. Did the add a line myself and will be downgrading to dump phone after. Figured another line for upgrades without screwing up the unlimited isnt a bad idea.

Does adding a line somehow lead to retaining a data-unlimited plan? How?

Has anyone heard anything about corporate stores offering a pre-order at some point?

When I would my upgrade to my mother's line it wouldn't let me pre-order, it would say page unavailable every time, but when I chose another phone it would let me continue. wtf?

some choose to add a line when phone arrives activate dumb phone on new line downgrading to no data etc, or ghost esn then activate new smartphone on unlimited line.

Yes. The trick is to upgrade your phone on the extra line. Then, you move the phone over to the line that you want to have it on. That way, you never get rid of the unlimited data plan that you already have on your current phone. As an alternative, if anyone in your household doesn't have an unlimited data plan on their phone, you can just make sure that you process the upgrade on that person's phone. Once the phone arrives, you do the same thing - move it to the line that still has an unlimited data plan.

I was surprised to find that I could pre-order the GN3 on the Verizon site, off contract! I don't want to loose my grandfathered Unlimited Data and Unlimited Hotspot. Yes, I paid full retail, but will sell my GN2 and recoup a fair amount. I don't remember being able to do this in the past. When going in to the VZW store, they always hassle me, can't understand WHY I want to keep unlimited and pay full price. Commission I guess? I no longer can tolerate the stores, so time consuming, they amazing amount of up sells, crazy. So now, stay home, wait for Fed-Ex and be happy! yea!

Ok so I'm switching to my parent's plan and creating another line for me. When pre-ordering, will it charge $300 up front and the monthly fee, or only when the phone ships will it charge the $300 and the extra one line be added to whatever they're paying currently?

The latter. Verizon usually charges the card right before it ships and monthly charges are added to the bill(including activation fee). Depending on when your parents billing cycle closes you may have prorated charges for the first month of service.

They likely will charge you the activation fee and phone up front plus tax. The monthly service will be for the first month and second month since you are paying in advance for service.
