Verizon Refurb CLNs = GARBAGE

THe only problem with switching to a different device is they want you to switch to a Razr or a Droid 4, both of which are older phones, not to mention they are motorola and serverly lacking in the support or upgradability. I went through 3 replacement phones before i just went back to my initial one (Never sent any of the replacements back till i had the issue resolved) because they told me the issue i was having was a software glitch. (The mic would mute mid call and had to hang up and call back, or after going to speakerphone and back i would have no mic or sound out of the phone unless it was on speaker). I refuse to go to a Moto phone after the nightmare i had with both the D1 and the Bionic... I am waiting a few months and if they don't release a software update i will go through all this again and try to get myself a SIII

Personally I wouldn't accept a Motorola phone in exchange either. The android experience I've had with them wasn't horrible but also not as great as the Samsung devices I've had. Only device that could remotely replace the nexus is the sgs3

So you've had FOUR phones and they all have the mic cutout issue?

Sending back my 4th tomorrow. :(

Hello, Mr. Pirahna. Have you seen Doug?

Anyway, my 5th one seems to be the charm. I was hoping to get a .10 radio in a v12.12 phone, but the .10 that I got was totally unusable. So I'm still on a .09 that works.

This is about where I was when I started.

The part that ticks me off is that VZW has no appreciation for the trouble this causes customers. This phone is my business line and they have no problem sending me one POS after the next.

I would have terminated the contract except for being grandfathered under unlimited data.

Just dropped data twice today... wtf

BinaryCode transmission from ParanoidNexus via XpTapaTalk2

That must be more common of an issue than Verizon will admit. I had to get a replacement device over the weekend due to my cellular and WiFi data constantly. The replacement I received in the mail today was in worse shape than my original.

My expectation is to keep cycling through VZW refurbs until the next GNEX lands in the fall.

what about the refurbished ones that Asurion sends out?
do they have a better inspection process than Verizon?

if so, perhaps the OP should consider.... well.. you know....
(i.e. let the baby have the phone for a day)

I refuse to buy the insurance that VZW offers. Pay and pay and then get BSed at claims time. Not for me.

I had 5 bionics 4 razrs and I'm on the maxx now which its working perfectly... Just keep at them its been almost a year but i finally have something that works but warranty will be over soon so that's the down side. I've had trouble with Samsung that's why i only do moto now which I'm having trouble with moto other than the maxx lg sucked for me... I've used others but they all seem to suck so moto is the lesser of the evils for me.

Just out of curiosity, when everyone is saying they are dropping data, its on 4G only, right? I am on Nexus #3 and it dropping data like crazy, just like the first one (number 2 had a bad screen) but its only when on LTE. On 3G and wifi, no drops or any issue.

Its a shame this phone doesn't work with 4G, at least for me it doesn't

My Nexus works perfectly. A lot better then the MAxx I traded a sucker for it. The Maxx had nothing but dropped 4g, 3g and wifi, Would be lucky if it got any signal during the day. Its all a crap shoot anyway.

Yes, it's only on LTE.....however, when it drops, ALL radios go out, not just the LTE radio.

If your phone is doing this, it's defective. Get it replaced. My first phone dropped 10-15 times an hour on LTE. New phone has dropped once since June 13th.

getting my 2nd Galaxy in a week, thank god i have a work phone or id be going on almost 2 weeks without a working phone

I had 5 replacement Nexus phones as well that were sent out and all had the same issues. The signal would just drop for no apparent reason in strong 4g areas and have the little x where the bars are. I also got those from asurion too and they actually were very helpful and ended up saying to just get another model of like make. I ended up picking up the rezound and, while i don't like OEMs putting UI garbage over the OS, sense works well enough and the phone itself works perfectly. I never drop 4G unless im not in an area of it and it just works. My nexus devices worked ok just on 3g but I didn't buy a 3g phone. ICS stock is awesome but I'm pretty sure when I bought my phone it didn't say glorified paper weight on the box, it said smartphone.

From one standpoint, yes i can see that mayeb they don't check all CLNRs but if people are having problems through VZW and asurion, it has to be how this phone is made. Even with a nexus that I played around with that at least had a stable connection, I load music, video web pages, etc much faster on the rezound than the nexus. I think it has something to do with the way samsung has made alot of cdma and cdma/lte devices as from what i hear, the galaxy s2 didn't have any issues. Sadly we might have to weight until the next nexus device to come out to see any real improvment over build quality. Here's to hoping HTC is the next nexus build

Mine drops WiFi, 3G, and 4G.

Mine drops WiFi, 3G, and 4G.

That bites. I read several threads and other forums about this and the one thing brought up a few times was the whole Korea vs. China deal. I've had my Nexus replaced twice (so 3 overall) and the only one without signal issues was the device from Korea. The two from China, drops all signal when on 4G and I do recall this latest device from China dropping WiFi once last night...but have read people reporting they have a device from China that have no issues.

I am sending #3 back today, sticking with #2 since it can keep a signal, just a terrible screen.

My original would drop all signal if i had LTE enabled. If i went into the settings and turned it to CDMA only, it worked great. I went to the store and got another SIM, same issue, went and got a new phone, same issue. Tech2 support at Verizon told me that Samsung had been notified of the issue and it would be fixed in a software release, but no time on when that would be. I was still within my 14 days and they offered me the Maxx. I couldn't do it though, i am not a fan of Moto phones. So i stuck it out for a few days and out of the blue, the Tech2 lady i spoke to (Wendy) called me back and told me to go to a store and get a new phone. She found something on her tech forums about an antenna issue with certain serial numbered phones. I went back to the store and got my 3rd phone and it works flawlessly. My boss was going through the same issues with his. He called in, asked to speak to the Tech2 support, he told them what he had heard (what i told him), and they sent him a new one. Still bad, he called back in and got another one shipped and now he is working fine as well. Just stay after it and you will get one that works.
