Verizon removes Skype Video from HTC Thunderbolt?

I'm disappointed if this is true. The FFC, along with the 4.3" screen, was one of the big selling points of the Bolt for me. I thought Skype's video calling over 3G was one of it's big advantages when downloaded on the iPhone since FaceTime can only be used on Wi-Fi.

I don't think Skype was ever used on 3G...iPhone people I know (everyone in my office) use Tango because all else is only wifi capable.

If the tv doesn't have Skype, I won't buy it. My wife vzw iPhone 4 has it and can do video over both 3g and WiFi and I was planning on using this to see my kids while I'm at work. A major disappointment if true.

But if this true , can some1 check vzw tbolt page and see if they removed skype feat?
I would check if not on storm.

My bro has new iphone4 on vzw and has skype and is able to vchat both wifi and 3g.

So then why couldn't we just get Skype through the Android market and use it like other devices then? Isn't the big deal about the Tbolt Skype is the fact that it is integrated into the operating system so that we can use it as an option when we look at our contacts?

Vzw wouldn't continue marketing any association with skype the second they knew they couldn't put skype on board.

Does the vzw tbolt site have (used to have) any mention of skype + tbolt?

What about the BB ads?? And the ones from the magazines?

Would they market skype vchat if they stripped it from tbolt?

Can any1 confirm?

Tired of coming to AC to only see bad news lately about Tblow.

I would question anything that this article claims. Verizon never claimed at CES that the Thunderbolt, or any of its 4G devices, would do voice over 4G. Voice over 4G wasn't mention by Verizon till just recently. Also it claims that Verizon's first true 4G LTE device will be the LG Optimus 2X. The LG Optimus 2X is not coming to Verizon and the Optimus 2X is not even an LTE phone.

Good points!

For what it's worth, Skype was demoed over 4G using two Thunderbolts at Verizon's MWC booth just a few days ago.

It's been mentioned before in another thread that the Skype mobile with video is set to launch February 28th. If the Thunderbolt is actually going to come out on the 24th, Verizon probably doesn't want its reps telling people about the feature before its available.

This is right on. If Skype is further delayed than the 28th or is significantly different from what was trained or will bw trained, they would remove it.

Are you sure he's able to do video chat using skype?
I thought Skype with Mobile video chat wasn't out yet.

Face Time, sure...but skype with video? Interesting.

If I were even getting the TBolt.. I wouldn't use video chat. That's too much info for me.

rich if this drives you to att then best of luck with that service!

I have been with ATT for years... no problems in my area. I've tried Verizon. On average, u always get better data speeds with ATT vs Verizon. Sometimes ATT will have some data door downs but I also have data stop to 1x with Verizon from time to time too and 1x really sucks big time! I really do want the thunderbolt and to give verizons 4G a shot ad the thunderbolt looks amazing... but my concerns are the battery life... trying the inspire right now until the atrix comes and its an amazing device but the battery on the inspire kinda sucks and I've got a feeling g it will be the same with the thunderbolt as the atrix has received good reviews for battery life.
