They haven't even done that with HSPA+ as it stands today. So, your suggesting they will up the anti again on the 3G side??? And build out LTE??? What's wrong with that picture. Pay to build a new network (LTE) and continue to upgrade the old one. I wouldn't hold my breathe on that one.
It doesn't make good business sense.
Actually, AT&T has upgraded the majority of its cell sites that have UTMS equipment to support HSPA+ already. Luckily for them this doesn't require new equipment in most cases. The LTE buildout is what is costing the big bucks and takes time.
