Verizon S6 update?

I didn't expect much from this update, but there has been a massive improvement in performance for me. Recently, I noticed that my phone was starting to bog down and get really slow when performing routine actions. I was entertaining the idea of a factory reset. After update, it's like the phone is brand new.

This'll definitely make it easier for me to hold out until next year's flagship cycle rolls around.

I just got it. I don't see the doze feature though. You do get app optimization which should help battery life. I just went and shut off a lot of permissions my apps don't need. You can now adjust brightness of the auto brightness feature. Google now on tap is useless because you have to turn on goolge now cards. Still playing with it but I like it so far.

Mine runs great. On Quadrant I generally see 34,000 to 36,000 on the full benchmark. Actually saw over 40,000 but only once last night after the upgrade. It's averaging 38k. Definitely smoother.

Got Android 6.0.1 yesterday from Verizon ota. Think phone is faster and smoother now. Great update!

I think my battery life might be significantly improved. I was charging multiple times a day. This morning I performed the update and a factory reset. I've used the phone as normal today. It's 8 PM and I still have 41% battery on a single charge. If this keeps up, I'll be super happy.

Updated Friday. Took a long time. I don't know why I decided to reload my text messages, Next update (ha) won't do that.

Saturday, I noticed my battery was draining just as fast as on 5.1.1. I decided to bite the bullet, back up phone and do a factory reset. Had to make sure to add wi-fi passcode.

Today, unplugged at 8 am. By 6:30 I still had 20% left. M-F, I normally unplug around 7AM and need to charge by 1 PM. And this is with light usage. Can't wait to see how the battery life is from work. No wi-fi coverage available at work (sad) but strong signal.

It is always entertaining to see the chatter on forums when a new release is in the air. I want it NOW!!! Damn the bugs, just get it out NOW! It's unfair that it hasn't been released to ME, I want it NOW! My carrier and phone manufacturer are conspiring against ME, since others have it on their phones. If you really want it that bad there is probably a pre-release somewhere. Or you could wait for them to fully test and patch it on the Verizon S6. Your call. Or get a Nexus and get updates first.

Back in the days of the Palm Treo phones, they often shipped releases without thorough testing. One release in particular was being demanded by owners because it fixed crash/hang issues. Problem is that the release permanently bricked some phones. A lot of them actually. That's when I got a lot less anxious for updates.
Get a Nexus, or upgrade to a GS7, I did

To answer OPs question... I've seen nothing new. All I can find on line is we are getting it but there is no news as to when... I know it can be frustrating but I'm waiting right there with you. I'm to the point now of manually checking when I get up, and when I go to bed. I know it's coming, just not when. Parents note 5 is live with 6.0.1, which frustrated me even more lol, and the touchwiz 6.0 theme is decent, but I know it's not the same.

Give it time, it'll come. I also hear sometime april, but no stuck date... may the odds ever be in your favor.

Oh yeah I have that. Need to watch it.

I'm jealous that those damn ios folks don't have to wait. I'll be patient... Thanks for an actual answer!

They don't have to wait, they just delay the update to the best devices took they know the old devices can handle it. So really they do. And i don't think any of us here want to be running iOS anything.
iZombies, pfft

Keep us updated. Any reason why you went full factory reset instead of say, cache wipe?

My 2 cents:

This thread is for those updating the Verizon Samsung S6, not a Nexus Thread. Many people with the S6 purchased their S6 PRIOR to the Nexus 5X and 6P being launched.

Let's be kind to one another shall we? If you want to bash the S6 or sing the praises of your Nexus, there are plenty of threads already for that.

This thread is for folks who have patiently waited for the M upgrade and to discuss their thoughts and experiences. Oh and by the way I have purchased Nexus phones and tablets in the past.

For those stating "purchase a S7 or Nexus"... what makes you think this time next year or later this year when "N" launches, purchasers of the S7 won't be clamoring for the latest update?

I've had the update since April 1st. Overall my phone is running better with almost zero issues. The only two issues I am aware of so far:

1. I can't enable Now on Tap. If I go to Google Now > Settings > Now on Tap, the toggle switch to enable it is grey and it can't be enabled. Thoughts?

2. I have a 2nd OEM Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger that after the update does not fast charge. In fact, it's slower than wireless charging, by about 1.5 hours. The original charger that came with it still fast charges, as well as my car fast charger. Not the end of the world, but really strange. It was working fine before the update.

Anyone else having these problems or have any insight?

Thanks.

Have you gone into settings>battery and checked to see if "fast cable charging" is enabled?

On the Now on Tap, mine was greyed out too but I tapped the enable button a couple of times and it switched. The button would not swipe for some reason.

I am having the same issue with slow charging. It takes forever to get to 100% on wireless charging. Happened right after the Marshmallow update. It now takes me 30 minutes to go from 95% to 100% on the wireless charger. Before the update it would take less than five minutes. Any thoughts?

On your first question, yes it is enabled. Again, fast charging works on other chargers, just not this one which worked fine before the update.

As far as Now on Tap, I've probably been in the settings and clicked the greyed out toggle switch 50 times since April 1st. It's not an option for me, and it's slightly maddening considering this is one of the "features" Android 6.0.1 was suppose to bring.

One other problem I seem to be having is the Auto Brightness is not as bright as it was before the update. Anyone else notice this?

I fear a factory reset might be in my future, which may or may not resolve these issues. I was hoping to avoid that.

Mine is acting the same way. Mine didn't make it from 95% to 100% after 30 minutes, it was at 97%. I didn't touch the phone either, so I didn't have the screen on at all during that 30 minutes. Wireless charging otherwise is about the same, that last 5% seems to be a real struggle though.

I noticed the brightness thing right away. Havent had it enough to notice battery yet.
