Verizon shipping Droid X Early?

How did you get to order the X? I called and talked to a CSR and Supervisor and both told me I had to wait untill the 15th because of what happened with the Dinc.

Dude I have no clue.. lol. Honestly she called me back the next day and made it sound like she was hooking me up. I was fricken stoked and couldn't thank her enough
 
This exact same thing happened with the Incredible and the Touch Pro 2. I'm not sure how or why they keep doing this. I do know, in both cases, it wasn't worth calling Verizon 4 times a day trying to get a rep to sell me one. I think we are just going to have to wait until it officially goes on sale.
 
I called the Verizon store this afternoon, wasn't what I was expecting. Called just to ask how stock looked and what they expected. The super nice lady said she didn't know but that they were going to have a midnight launch on the 14th. First I have heard of a store doing this! Not only that but she took my name and put it on a list. Said they expect to find out quantities their getting as early as friday and once she could confirm I was getting one she'd call me back. Said the list was small so she felt confident I shouldn't have a problem getting one. I made a joke, asking if this was going to be a crazy launch with doors opening at 12 and lines and she said she didn't know if it would be midnight or earlier that they were still working out the details. BUT, she did say it would be by appt only and only for those who had gotten on the list and they called to schedule a time with and not a first come first serve deal. Been with Sprint and AT&T forever so no idea if this is common for verizon.

Hadn't seen anything like this on any boards but if it holds true then looks like I may be up really late on the 14th playing with my new toy!
 
Got 2 of them delivered to me yesterday.. Placed the order over the phone last Thursday for upgrades for 2 lines on our business account.. The device is sweet.. Who cares about iPhone on Verizon anymore.. I'd take this hands down, and twice on Sunday..
 
Midnight launch eh? I will have to investigate when I call next week to confirm a second time that my annual upgrade date is all set for release day...

Amen to that chief! I like the size of the screen, my itouch now seems so small...playing with it for several hours and still have more things to explore.
 
Ok, so I had been having problems with my Storm 1, on my 3rd device now... still having freezing issues, screen input reversal issues... so I talked to Verizon in early June and they moved up my NE2 date so I could replace the device, I intended on getting an HTC Incredible, but after news of the Droid X came out I decided I would wait for that device...

So I was stuck in an airport yesterday afternoon, and even though all the blogs and forums are saying Verizon isnt offering pre-order for the Droid X, I called up customer service just to ask... turns out she let me order the Droid X, confirmed the 299 price and the 100 dollar mail in rebate, and told me anticipated ship date is July 15th...

Late yesterday evening I get an email saying my verizon shipment has been processed and is out on FedEx for 2 day delivery (altho with the weekend and Holiday Fedex says it wont be here until Tuesday per FedEx tracking info). I was initially confused and thought oh crap they ordered me a regular droid... so I call customer service back, and the rep looks in my account and in a surprised voice tells me that my Droid X has shipped. So has anyone else had this experience? Am I tremendously lucky and the Android gods are smiling on me with a fluke? Am I going to be even more surprised to open the box when it arrives and find a Droid Eris or Droid one??

Allrighty ppl... I need to go buy some lottery tickets... the FedEx man delivered not an eris, not a droid one, but an honest to goodness Droid X, all the finger crossing I did over the weekend worked... lol.

First impressions are extremely good, its only been outta the box a few minutes, but the weight is perfect, its most definitely not too big, which was a minor concern lingering in the back of my mind. The thickness (or rather lack thereof) of the phone is awesome, it feels slim and chic in your hand, and the camera bump feels more like an ergonomic design feature than anything else.

The phone startup and setup blows my first gen Storm boot time out of the water, this last pic was taken with my partners Incredible of the decom'd Storm 1 and the new X side by side.

The haptic feedback is nice, and actually feels quicker than even the Incredible (this may just be excitement talking) I surely wont miss surepress, sureclick, or whatever they are calling it now...

So enough rambling, but to all the people who said impossible, your crazy, etc... is the appropriate term... "suck it!!"? lol.

Im off to test it out and and play with my new toy ;)


Tell me did they activate your phone, How did you get them to change your contract date?? I was told by a verizon store that if I wanted the extra 100.00 upgrade credit I would have to wait till date of contract which is july 25th for me. I told them according to the announcement on verizon if anyones contract is up this year they will allow you to get the droid x when it releases with no penalaties , so how is not giving me my 100.00 upgrade credit not a penalty loss??

I think some people think upgrade date, and NE2 is the same thing. Its not! They state if ur upgrade date is in 2010 u can upgrade, that dosn't mean your NE2 date changes as well....

My NE2 was coming up on July 21st, but after I spoke to a CSR I had it moved to the 15th. I know a few other people have reported success in doing so. I would suggest doing the same.
 
So these threads are now confusing me when I thought I knew everything. I'm not the primary line on my account, but my upgrade date is 8/18 and my contract end 12/18. I'm good to go, right? lol

You should be, as I believe you contract date has to fall between now and Dec. 31 2010.

I would call just to make sure yo iron everything out.

Yea, I've talked to CSR's, the only think is I have never noted that I am not the primary line so I wasn't sure if there was a stipulation that excluded non-primaries or anything, which I am pretty sure there isn't.
 
Wow just got notification of Equipment Order

You know that that means right, they should be shipping any minute now. :cool:

I would have like to gotten the $100 gift card, anyway I would have applied it to the cost of the phone lol.

Im sorry you dont understand,

1)VZW has credited my account the $100 mail in rebate.

2)My Droid X is sitting in a big warehouse or someones desk waiting to be shipped to me.

I hope that clears it up.
 
Where in that e-mail from the RETURNS department did it say anything about shipping, or the x for that matter?
