Verizon software update

I am now more convinced that my battery life has improved after the update.

My battery life was not bad before, but now it is what I would call fantastic!

Sot 4hr 20m.. Seems like a great update!

Sent from my Samsung S6

I'd contacted VZW Tech Support a couple of weeks ago about my signal strength. After unsuccessfully trying a new SIM card, I was told my signal was within acceptable ranges and the issue may be software related (i.e., the signal strength is misrepresented in my notification bar). The rep said there was nothing else they could do; a future software update may fix the problem.

Has anyone noticed any improvements with cell signal with this update? Even after the update, I still only have 2-3 bars of service in areas that I'd have full bars with my old S3. I almost never go over 3 bars; I occasionally get 4, but don't remember ever seeing it reach 5.

This technically doesn't mean anything is wrong with the phone. Each phone can calculate differently on how many bars to show to the user -- What is definite is the -dBm score that you can see in settings. I almost want to bet your S3 and S6 will be near the same dBm .. It is just the S3 may have been more lenient and said that was full when it wasn't.

You can find dBm in settings, about device, status.

Understood. The VZW essentially told me the same thing. I was just curious if yesterday's update was supposed to have any impact on signal notifications or not...cause it certainly didn't on my device. :) My dBm is within the expected ranges, so I guess I should stop worrying about how many bars are displayed on my screen.

My signal is better. Before I only had 3G and now I have 4G. I think my battery is improving too, but I won't know until the end of the day. Fingers crossed!🙏

My Wi-Fi seems to connect to a stronger signal faster. Before it would stay on my weaker router over the stronger one, but now it picks up the stronger one when I get close to it

Hitting "close all" now closes recent apps much more smoothly. Minor, but nice.

Yesterday I got over 5 hours of SOT and today I have about 3 😡 today I had the screen on auto brightness though, and yesterday was just kept on one low setting. Could this be why? My signal is still better though

My S6 has never worked better after the update. Numerous little annoyances were fixed.

Has anyone determined if this fixed the horrible RAM app issue that's causing many apps to force close and causes most apps to refresh when app switching instead of just staying at the point where you left off?

Nope, doesn't fix it. Still gets very bogged down after a day or two. Here's hoping 5.1.1 fixes it.

Wife's can't even get the update. She keeps getting "software update is currently unavailable."
