As the title says, my Verizon V20 is downloading an update. Just wish it would wait until I'm on Wi-Fi at least. Looks to be a security update.

I'm on AT&T. I see no difference. Still on 7.0.

But we were the first to get it!

As I wait for my new V30 to arrive......my V20 is getting this update.

This is probably the annual update to install a bunch of things to slow your phone down, to make you want to go upgrade.

twice I lost my screen...instead of second screen it said connected to car

i unpaired and repaired after second reboot....wonder if it has something to do with Bluetooth security patch

it happened again but corrected itself....maybe it was updating Bluetooth connection app

I didn't even notice the second screen thing, but I always reboot and wipe the cache partition every time I get and update. So far all is well.

From what I saw on the Verizon site about the update certain apps are still optimizing after reboot. I probably interrupted the blue tooth patch updating my car connection each time I rebooted. It has not popped up since.

Seems rather large for just security updates. It didn't bump the build past 7.0 though, so who knows.

I don't remember how I set my V20 but it asks me when there is an update available and my choices are update now or later. I then make sure I am on WiFi and have plenty of battery life available and allow them to update.

Are you sure it's asking before the download? Mine automatically downloads whenever, and only asks me to update now or later after the fact, when it's ready to actually perform the update.

Mine did ask permission to download then asked permission to install.

So you won't panic as I did I recommend backing up everything on the phone before updating. When you reboot phone stays on Verizon splash screen for about 15 minutes. I was getting panicky that my phone was frozen. Just part of the update I guess. Anyway I would have felt better had I backed up my files, especially my memos which I do not entrust to the cloud but also some work files. Somebody's phone always freezes during updates especially LG so if you have important data not backed up do it first.

I think all we got is BlueBorne protection?

BTW, battery went from 100% to 80% just doing the update.

When you start the update, it does caution you that it'll take about 20 min to complete.
