Verizon Version info from Google Rep...

I just want to know if I can get a promo price or not w/ a 2 year plan. Seen both yes and no on it and I'm not talking about monthly payment plans.

They are available on contract but that won't come with the trade in credit.

I'm so done with Verizon. They really messed up the experience on several of my phones and their customer service is laughable (actually cry-able from the customer point of view).

Glad I haven't had any issues with Verizon.

I don't need trade in credit, I'm OK w/ selling my phone on Craigslist but just so I can be sure, you're saying that there will be a price of $299 w/ a new two year contract? (the price obviously being generic)

Do you have a source for this info? Sorry but like I've said, I heard both yes and no but I can't see anything on Verizon's website. Only the monthly price and standard $799 or however much it is.

On Phandroid they said the following breakdown:

Pixel 32 GB = $199.99 on contract
Pixel 128 GB = $299.99
Pixel XL 32 GB = $319.99
Pixel XL 128 GB = $419.99

I want to believe this, but am cautious. I believe a rep said those things, but that info is only as valuable as the "Rep" saying these things.

I'm mostly referring to the fact that

a.) could you really move a Verizon pixel over to another carrier some time after activating

B.) would the updates really and truly bypass big red? Similar to Apple? Like finally?

If so - this is huge. And this would be literally the first news break that this is actually the fact.

Again - I'm cautious... I want the 128 gig version and will be bringing my "revised" note 7 back to best buy, by the 14th. I'll have to limp in an old S5 in the meantime. Haha.

Why is the 128 out if stock with Google? Argh!!!

A, yes
B, hope so

There are a few sites reporting today that Google is saying they're handling the updates and Verizon has nothing to do with it.
There are also multiple reports that the vzw apps that are installed can be completely uninstalled, not just disabled like they normally have to be.
Looks like great news indeed.

I'm sitting here freaking out about which to do. Hahhahaa

Pre-order 32 GB from Google, or take my note 7 back like now, then pre-order the 128 from Verizon directly.

Am I crazy for wondering if I'll get the Daydream from Google? Where it seems more possible from Verizon, since they said anyone who pre-orders by the 19th will get one. Google just says "while supplies last*" and that we'd get a random email after the fact...

I just don't know what to do. Haha. I'm starting to think I could actually get by on 32 GB... Especially since I'll want the pixel 2 next fall - so.... Man... Decisions decisions...

If it wasn't for Verizon cloud or vz messages, I would have had a lot of angry customers. You guys have to understand not everyone is like us. It's easy for you guys sit here and say how terrible Verizon's customers service is, but you could say this with any company. Personally, Verizon bends over backwards for customers from my pov.

It is what it is, Bloatware can be disabled. I'd take the better speeds and coverage with bloat, than some of the terrible networks available without bloat.

Unfortunately Verizon still provides the best service by far where I need it . there are spots at my work where tmobile and att have no service but Verizon works. Also I am on a legacy Verizon plan which is significantly cheaper than the competition for my needs.

I hear you. That's why I had to go from T-Mobile to Verizon 12 years ago. At my daughter's college, T-Mobile had really bad coverage and Verizon was the best. At my current home, I have to use a femtocell for Verizon to get service. AT&T is nice and strong. After 12 years of Verizon's bloatware and the lack of updates I've had enough. The only time I had a good experience was with my Palm/HP Pre Plus, Pre 2, and Pre 3 phones. The homebrew community had instructions to take the Palm releases for all other carriers and put in the Verizon radio software module. No bloatware, and we had updates right away, many months before Verizon made them available. Heck the Pre 2 and Pre 3 were never supported by Verizon at all. They would show up as an "unknown" phone in my reports.

Been a loyal Verizon customer since 2000. Can't say anything negative about the customer service or service in general. Some people just like to hate on the best. It is what it is.

Well, depending on if they're right and who will be handling the updates, might have to get me a new phone come February. Thanks for the heads up

This is all enough for me to say eff it and am gonna order the Google unlocked version right now. :)

Can't have a locked bootloader. Good thing I ordered from the play store. I do need Verizon service so I will take it to straight talk vz. 45 bucks.

I know Motorola has submitted updates for phones like the unlocked, non-carrier Moto X Pure Edition to Verizon for testing/certification.

I'm under the impression that Apple either self-certifies or has carrier testing built in to their release schedule (or both).

Done. :)

I assume I can keep the sim card from my Galaxy Note 7 when I go to give it back and pay my restocking fee. I hope it's that easy at least.

https://9to5google.com/2016/10/06/g...ut-google-will-still-manage-security-updates/

Will Verizon be involved? I’ve seen several people ask that question, so I decided it was time to get some further clarification. A Google spokesperson had the following to say regarding the matter:

Monthly security updates will come from Google (for all models), and system updates will be managed by Verizon for Verizon models, and Google for unlocked models bought from Google Store.

So the good news here is that Google will still be pushing monthly security updates to all Pixel devices, Verizon models included. On the other hand, Verizon will be in charge of system updates, aka future versions of Android. Google will still make the updates, but Verizon will push them to devices it has sold.
