read 55 pages of nonsense, people there sure like to post.

yes, there are at least a third of screenshot has some sort of "spike", although most of them don't seem to curious enough to ask why. There is some statement regarding battery level bump after a reboot. Thats about all I can find.

It occasionally bumps after reboot. My S4 went from 83 to 86 a couple days ago but I doubt he rebooted that many times

LOL, I can only do so much, I don't expect everybody to take my word, its better than no voice whatsoever against a crowd of baseless praises. I don't need your assurance for anything, you made your own choice, its all yours.

Its best if potential buyers can read all sources as they possibly can, and able to identify the facts and fictions. Its their big money on the line anyway.

This is really funny coming from you " Its their big money on the line anyway" when we could buy TWO Nexus 5 for the cost of just ONE of the super expensive Samsung Galaxy Note 3 GSM LTE Version Unlocked that cost $728.98 that you own. This while you call people out that claim they are getting better battery life with their Nexus 5 over their old Samsung phone. You don't even own a Nexus 5. Guess what I could buy two Nexus 5 and when one runs out of battery then switch to the other Nexus 5 that is 100% charged and still have spent $30 less than your expensive Galaxy Note 3 . How's that for battery life?

Maybe all the Nexus 5 owners should go over to Keep You HONEST on your Galaxy Note 3 T-Mobile board and play Robin Hood since Samsung is so over priced for what you get.

But who in their right mind would bug two of the same phone? It's pointless. I'd rather have a Note 3 than a Nexus 5.

I'd rather buy a new Nexus every 12 months v a new note every 24 months...

No, never turned the phone off. I did have the phone cell radios off during the day today. Once I left work, switched to LTE and turned wifi off.

That's a big part of it. I've always kept battery management controls on my home screen to help preserve battery life, such as WiFi, screen brightness, GPS, airplane mode, etc. Intelligently switching modes really adds to battery life (except on the SGS3, because that phone just SUCKED!!)

Well that is your opinion. I hate being ripped off on overpriced phones. No way I am paying $728.98 for Note 3 when I can get two Nexus 5 for $30 cheaper. I'm sure my wife would like a new phone.

I'm just keeping Clevin honest since " Its their big money on the line anyway" with people paying $728.98 on a over priced phone.

Could also look at it as buying a new Nexus phone and new Nexus tablet for cheaper than a note ;-)

People buy their phones at full price? :o
T-Mo offers payment plans while other carriers offer them on contract which is how most people get their phone anyway.

Re: Great Battery life So far, impressive

Okay, so here are my battery life results.

Screenshot_2013-12-04-22-43-02.jpg

Screenshot_2013-12-04-22-42-11.jpg

I stopped charging my phone at 4:30 PM as soon as I finished work. I used it to listen to music for about an hour at the gym - that's Mediaserver. I talked on the phone for about 45 minutes, that's Voice calls.

The most battery usage however, was when I let my kid sister use my phone for a little over one hour. She played two games - Punch Quest and Smash It! - and those two along, along with the Screen, used 58% of the battery in a little over an hour.

At the end of the night I'm left with 27% battery life.

So in my experience, the Nexus 5 is great at conserving battery life when it's idling. But as soon as you light up that 1080p screen, the battery drains fast.

Maybe only for playing games? That's going to use more processor/battery than web surfing, or video streaming.

Yeah but that's the point. Do the math on the payment plan. You'll spend more than if you paid out of pocket up front. The contract is the other issue. You can pay nearly 50% less a month going to an MVNO.

That's how I ended up on a nexus. I was very interested in the note because of my monkey hands, but just couldn't justify the cost. Samsung also soured my palette after using the S3 for a year and once the s4 came out, it was like they could care less if my device wasn't working properly. I know the s3 will get more updates, but it will be painfully slow... But, this might not be an issue if you root and rom...

you seriously want to start comparing N5 and GN3 here? start a thread I shall discuss with you to no end. For example, I can go doubling my battery life (to 5 days) with a $10 battery, and you do that by spending another $400? Is that the math you gonna keep on going?

It is not funny, it is sad you think $400 somehow is not "big" money, yes, its much cheaper than $750, it is, however, not a small number by itself, why don't you guys ask yourself, do you really care for the potential buyers? when you make a blind defense for N5? Are they really better off with an N5? or something else?

owned both Nexus tablets, gave away to relatives already, didn't use it enough, its too awkward, and kinda useless between a GN3 and a w510.

Somehow most other people find GS3 has better battery life than N5, like all those screenshot you can search internet for, and those test run by test websites, like this one http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-i9...n-battery-life-test-concludes-see-how-it-did/

you are surely entitled to your own experience, but to blindly expand your experience to make a general statement, is... misleading, shall we say? and that is the problem with some posts here, misleading, and do not serve the benefit of a potential buyer.

btw, if you claim turning off data does not improve GS3 standby battery performance, I can only say you are being completely dishonest here.

BTW2, turning off data, which is a very good habit, can only help the sucked battery life so much, to better prolong the battery life, read my tips here http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...w-realy-really-prolong-your-battery-life.html

Go ahead, save $300 and let google rip your privacy apart. Thats the trade off you are after, who am I to argue with you?

wait, did I ever claim price is not an advantage of N5 anyway? like this? http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-5/340775-nexus-5-a.html#post3292801

or its just you are so eager to attack, you are throwing in the kitchen sink now?

Soooooo, when in other post, you claimed that your GS3 and N5 are similar configured and used, and N5 battery life was much better, you were simply misleading? Good to know. This is type of thing I was saying all along, some people simply misleading people to defend N5, could not care less about the benefit of a buyer.

BTW, turning off data, which is a very good habit, can only help the sucked battery life so much, to better prolong the battery life, read my tips here http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...w-realy-really-prolong-your-battery-life.html

Yes, the tablets would be useless if you had a note. I guess that's the point and why you can't compare a note to anything else other than other huge screen phones. The Nexus, I think should be compared to S4s. And you have to weigh price to make it fair.

True enough, Galaxy S4 is selling on different places for about $550 now. It is still more expensive, but not prohibitively so, and buyers should indeed weight the pros and cons of each.

Agreed.

That price point was my tipping point between a G2 and nexus 5.
