I have been unable to predict when the Vibrate / Ring slider on Lock Screen will change from Vibrate / Ring to Mute / Ring.

It seems to change on its own.
I have been able to change it to what I want, which is Vibrate / Ring, but cannot figure out how to keep it there ALWAYS.
Its like the damn phone is thinkling...or trying to think for me.
The only choice in the Sound menu is Vibrate when ringing.
I don't like it.

How can I set it to always be on Vibrate / Ring?

It's all tied to where you left your ringer volume when you locked it. Holding the volume button down will first set your ringer to vibrate. If you tap it again, it turns off both the ringer and vibrate. If that's where you left it, that is the option that will show on the lock screen. To fix it, make sure your ringer is set to either ring or vibrate before you lock it.

@ pjspaews,
I understand what you are saying. As I said, I can fix it, when I notice it has changed.
But it is changing on its own. Perhaps as a result of a smart action engaging and disengaging.

My question is, how do I maintaiin the selection of Vibrate / Ring always?
Or, is this not possible?

In this video at time 0:24, is shown a sound menu withthe choice "Vibrate and Ring".
My phone has but one choice, "Vibrate when ringing".
Is the version in the video ICS? I have JB.

I actually had the same problem. I finally figured out how to set the button.

Steps to Set screen lock slider to vibrate/ring
1. Unlock the phone and press the volume button until down until it was set for vibrate.
2. Locked it. This sets the screen lock slider back to vibrate/ring.
3. Unlocked it and switch back to ring volume you want.

The key is while the phone is unlocked set the volume level to either "silent mode/mute" or "vibrate". If the phone is ever locked on either of these volume settings it will change the left screen lock slider to volume level selected. If you lock your phone with a ring volume level it keeps the last setting.

I have the same problem. I understand how to get it to be locked on vibrate. The problem is when it is in my pocket the volume slide bar on the lock screen itself switches back to the sound on setting to the right. I would like to disable the slider bar all together.
Any help would be great because the phone is interrupting classes when I have set it to vibrate in the first place.
Thanks
