Video chat with iPhone/iPad?

What's the best app? I've tried a couple (tried it on a s3) and they seem to lag badly and not work as smooth as FaceTime. My kids and wife all have iPads or iPhones though. And I'm sick of them lol, s4 here I come!

Google+ and Skype are decent options. I believe facebook has it built in now too to their messaging app.

As long as you are signed in then you'll get the notification. They won't have an impact on battery or performance while signed in.
