Video Chatting Unsuccessful

Has anyone had any success video chatting?

I know everyone says to try Tango, but has this worked for anyone?

The video works fine, but the audio is horrible. The only time the audio worked was when my wife and I tried it in the same house.

Anywhere else, its either a hitch pitched noise, a nonstop echo, or we can't hear each other.

Perhaps there's a setting I can fix, or does anyone know of another app that uses the front camera?

Thanks!
I used Tango to call a friend on his iPhone 4, and the only time we ever had audio issues was when we tried talking at the same time. Otherwise, the 40 minute call was perfect. We both were using 3G.

Tango

I used Tango and had spotty connection on 4g to a iPhone 4 on 3G. My kids FaceTime on their iphones on 3G all the time and not a problem. Tango always presents problems. Qik was best app I used while on sprint on epic and Sammy tab. Tango never had any quality to it IMO. Always choppy and cut out.

I don't think it's a 3G problem, I think it's a THUNDERBOLT problem - namely the video voice problem.

I just Tangoed with a friend across town with his AT&T 3G phone, I could hear and see him fine - he could only see me but had to ask yes or no questions that I could shake my head up and down or side to side to answer. We gave up and just did a phone call.

This phone has so many bugs I'm thinking about sending it in to Orkin.

I think you need to try the fring beta and stop knocking the THUNDERBOLT so much it works fine for me here is the link

It works fine for me even over 3g. Maybe I'm just extremely lucky because I haven't experienced any of the problems I see everyone complaining about. Besides battery getting drained with 4g on, but with it off the battery lasts me all day.

I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

tried fring tonight with my brother, he also has tbolt. Both of us had wifi on. Both of us heard weird loud noises and couldn't hear each other over speakerphone. looks like yahoo is next on the list

I have tried Tango and Fring. Neither work on a thunderbolt to thunderbolt using wifi (fast) or 4G (faster)
Bad audio issues.

It's a little inconvenient, but these audio problems tend to go away if both parties are wearing headphones during the video call. These apps just aren't optimized for our ThunderBolts yet. I'm sure fixes are coming soon.

I used tango last night to chat with the wife while she is traveling. (she has an iphone 4) it worked ok, she said she could hear me ok, but after a while the video and audio weren't synced up.(I was wifi in our house, she was 3g)

My daughter and I tried out Yahoo Messanger yesterday and it worked for us a lot better than Tango. There was no lag. Even though it was in the house. Wehn we use Tango in the house it still gets laggy but Yahoo seemed to work a lot better. I plan on trying it longer distance this weekend with the wife.

If you were sharing the same WiFi signal then that is the main issue with why it did not work to well. Try one with WiFi the other 4G.. should be a little better. Yahoo so far I have found to be the best. So good luck with that attempt. Great thing about Yahoo too is that you can video call CPU as wlel as phones.

Had success with Yahoo Messenger from Tbolt to my wife on her PC. Haven't tried phone to phone, but phone to PC worked well enough to have a conversation. :D

Odd, I keep getting force-closing on Yahoo Messenger. Read somewhere it didn't work on 4G, but I didn't try it again since I found that Fring beta, which works well for me on any connection.

Fring totally locked up my bolt. I had to delete it. I downloaded it from the marketplace

How are you guys using yahoo. It forces close every time

My wife and I are trying longer distances too. Maybe we should test our phones too. :D
