[Video] Droid X Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 leak initial impressions

It figures this would come out just hours after I spend a big chunk of my day tweaking Rubix to get it just the way I like it. Ah well, bring on the GB!

Help in Colorado

Hello everybody, can anyone help me download this gingerbread from my droidworld.com my phone starts to download and then tells me it was unsuccesful for some reason. Any help would be apreciated

So far, I'm beyond impressed. I'd never thought I would say this, but, Blur is...well, awesome now. Moto is on the right track.

I love everything about this so far. Let's hope they keep it up.

Yeah, looks like a lot of work went into it. Little things like the calendar views, and the menu choices. Even the launcher is smarter when you drop widgets, allowing you to swap places without an open spot.

Download on a computer, then transfer to card. Done.

HA! That is so funny I wiped Liberty 1.5 (due to battery) and just finished putting the final touches on how I want to try Rubix this time and saw this post....I for one am sticking with Rubix I am enjoying the battery life.

For dummies, what is the easiest way to upgrade? Mirrors, wiping, firmware, etc. are all above me. Is there a simple link to install?

Bad Compass

The compass took forever to calibrate and when it did its direction was opposite. I.e. turning north turns south. Anyone else seeing this?

Mine is also doing this but it works fine in landscape mode.

I'm loving this Gingerbread goodness. I just found the encryption settings and have to say it's about time. Now I can encrypt the phone info as well as the info on my SD card. That's the only thing Android was missing that made me miss my Blackberry days. The best phone decision I've made was getting the X. I can't even remember why I loved my Droid or the DInc now that the X is in my life.

droid x rooting

somebody please help me with rooting my droidx...i have seen a few tutorials but they were very confusing as i am not the computer xpert....and they removed z4 root from the market

Just google z4root apk. Install then open it and press root. Your done

I liked the look of GB but honestly I could see right away why it didn't pass. The boot up animation was really slow and laggy, the signal indicators would change color between blue and white, the compass issue, slow boot time in general, physical buttons looked like they were so bright they could blind you, wifi seemed to show less signal strength, the 3g mobile hotspot goof, I was not impressed with the keyboard at all, just some other random bugs but its a great start. Hoping for the best with a mostly bug free OTA!

GB with Root just released on mydroidworld

I may have to give this shot, thank you. The app drawer profiles is probably the biggest reason for me to do so. I would love to be able to get rid of my folders and to be able to install apps on sd card as a result -i truly hate how I cannot do this and keep app thumbnails in folders!!!

I like the look and feel but it does have its bugs. I'm wondering, can I install the official version over this when it comes out so I don't lose all my settings and data? I've been playing with tons of roms lately and getting tired of setting up my phone.
