[Video] Droid X Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 leak initial impressions

Any idea when the OTA might hit my phone? I called VZW Tech support, "nothing on their radar, no plans of releasing 2.3.3". I am hoping I just got a clueless rep.

Nothing has been said about an OTA from Verizon. This is an unofficial leak.

Sorry, long time BB user, where "leaks" came out a day or two before the official release. Just hate to brick my phone with anything unofficial.

Anyone having trouble with Widgets? None of my Widgets are updating and wanted to know if there was a fix. Main widgets I would like to get working is my Touch Calendar, Scorecenter Espn, and Mlb at bat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh man I love the screen rotation animation. 6 hour battery sounds painful. I'll see how mine fairs.

loving the gingerbread here, never rooted before but it was a snap using z4, then folloqws the instructions and it was done in a couple of minutes, from root to gingerbread..
worth it guys, this is sweet, kinda similar to honeycomb on my xoom

Phil its nice. I just ran my first quad score at 1803. I love the new things here but ill leave it up to you first.

With Gingerbread can you still tether to your Xoom over bluetooth for data?

I'd love to root my phone and do it, but I'm the kind of person who would probably brick my phone or it would explode in my hand or something so I guess I'll wait for the OTA.

Noob question. I am rooted now (z4), I know I will loose my root if I load ginger bread. My question is how do i go back to my old rom and being rooted again(dark slide 4.2)? Also to all the people that have tried it, hows battery life?

You will have to sbf back to stock 2.2.1. Once you do that then root install bootstrap and then flash your rom backup.

I noticed on the video that there was a 3g hotspot app. Is that a free app like wireless tether?

Looks pretty nice, but don't think I will be switching. Im running Apex right now, and like it, but in the end will probably go back to Liberty 1.5.

I am pretty new to all of this and got it to work. Question is, how to get back to stock 2.2?? If I try to return to stock, it stays with this version. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so I updated to GB per the method outlined however, I went to SBF back to 2.2.1 and now my phone is stuck on the new red moto logo for bootup. Anyone have any suggestions to unbrick my phone? using rsd lite 4.9 and just downloaded the 2.2.1 (2.3.340) sbf today. it said it loaded but now it wont boot. I tried to get in to recovery however with you hit home+power, it goes to the triangle android logo like it should but the search key or any key for that matter, will not get it to the menu. I can still go into the bootloader menu but again, nothing is different in rsd. not sure if GB changed how the recovery menu works but i kinda think im screwed here. any help is much appreciated!

do the recovery again and select wipe data. It will clear everything and you will be able to boot up. Happen to me last night. Also for some reason it changed my buttons and had to use the power button to get the blue recovery menu up to wipe the data......was weird

ok im trying that now. i think i had the "system only" sbf so ill let you know when its done if it works! thank you!
