Video Format for EVO

I'm trying to convert movie files to a format that can be recognized and played on the EVO, so far without any luck.

What do people use for this and what is the best codec/format for viewing on the EVO?

Post what you are trying to convert them too. Here is a list of the supported codecs in Android.

It was H.264 mp4. I think the problem was I tried to play the movie in the video app instead of the gallery app. I'll try again.

Dumb question, but ... I have a Mac with my digial-movie-versions of my blu ray collection in my iTunes. Can I plug my soon-to-be EVO in to the Mac and view those movies on the phone?

Anyone know if the evo supports 5.1 surround? who wants stereo from an HDMI output... Converted a show last night with handbrake. Will try it tonight. Froyo needs mkv container support! Its open source!
