Video quality is terrible

Does anyone know if there is a way to correct the quality of videos being sent and received? When anyone sends a video to my phone or my husband's (S8+) they are terrible. Like you can hardly make out what is going on. Same thing happens if I send a video out. Never experienced this on our iPhones so I'm sure there should be a way around it.

this is literally your carrier limiting your videos if you're sending them in a text. email, WiFi sharing, and bluetooth sharing won't do this.

I'm assuming you were using iMessage previously to send videos? iMessage doesn't compress (think Facebook messenger, whatsapp, Google messenger) whereas now you're utilizing MMS which compresses. Just Google "mms vs iMessage" for more thorough explanation.

Unlike iMessage, which goes through Apple servers, MMS has strict size limitations. Size limitations can be 300 or 600 KB. This means the video being sent will be compressed before transfer, reducing its quality. Wireless carriers can also compress the file before transferring via MMS.

You want to keep video quality, email it or use a different messaging app like WhatsApp.

Do link sharing instead.. You're allowed 2gb per day. The quality remains the same. So go to your gallery, select share.. Then select link share

You can setup Facebook Messenger or Hangouts as your SMS app. That way it will work similar to iMessage in that videos sent will go through Facebook or Google servers to maintain viewable quality.

That's really the biggest problem connecting Android and iOS. Which is I think one of the reasons Apple dropped iPod touches. I mean you can have an iPod with iMessage and an Android phone.

Google is already working with carriers to increase data limits via RCS so it works with iMessage better.

Yeah i can't think of a solution that doesn't require your friends to use an alternative method. Dropbox.. Drop the video there and send you the link. I guess this is one thing apple has did a really good job. Instagram? Snapchat? Thats about all I got.

If Apple would just open up iMessage to Android then all of our messaging problems would be over! Haha I know that will probably never happen because I don't see that Apple has any incentive to do so. I have 2 lines and still use my iPhone 7 Plus more than I use my Note 8 for two reasons: iMessage and Tweetbot. Sadly, both of these are exclusive to iOS which is why I can't quit my iPhone.

I use shareit app for sharing full quality video or pics. But it's like airdrop so you can't send it if other person is not in same room.

Yeah I've found that I'm leaning on my iPhone a lot when it comes to communication. I don't see myself fully getting rid of it. I love my Note for all that it does but sheesh communication is the main part of a phone. If it isn't able to execute that effectively then I understand why you have a lot of people that feel iOS is superior to Android.
