Videos downloaded from google photos not playing properly

Hello,

i am shooting alot of videos as per the benefit of unlimited photo storage on the pixel 1.

I have backed up all the videos of my previous vacation on photos. For some reason, when i download them directly from photos, they are not playing properly. There is always a black/green bar on the bottom half of the screen depending if its played on vlc or windows media player.

any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
