Virgin Mobile network speeds are TERRIBLE!

for two months my speeds have been in the single kb range. and even that fails. now im finally told its all due to maintenance going on my area related to 4g. now how the heck that effects my 3G is beyond me and im told there's no time table on when the maintenance will be complete. in other words, your service is crippled until we are done. wait it out. sorry. no resolution is what i call it. fcc complaint filed. im a 3G user,i could care less how 4g users service works. and any 4g maintenance shouldn't be my problem. i told the tier 3 rep im not satisfied with their excuses and expect a complaint from the fcc. i can see a week or so with issues, not two going on a third month.

Wimax is way more available than LTE. Where I live there is no plans in the next 2 years to add LTE. and I don't live in a rural area.

sent from my Nokia 5110

Where I live we would get it but the end of the year (S4gru.com) and as for WiMax The speeds arent bad but were i live i only got it once on my phone when i was with sprint and we have 2 WiMax towers. Sprint really just pissed all over NorthEast Indiana they are just now upgrading 3G towers that should have happened well over a year ago, Thats why NorthEast Indiana is on the second round to get the LTE so here Wimax is dead to me!

thats what pees me off. virgin mobile KNOWS there is nothing wrong with my original elite nor the two replacements they sent me and wasted my time fiddling with. they KNOW its their network overloaded here to the point users just can't keep a reliable connection. they put me through all that crap with trying out replacements knowing the network has deteriorated. i passed my ov on to a family member and her data connection has begun to drop out frequently and has become unstable. ive got one more round of talks with tier 3 support today. im done with replacement elites. and virgin mobile if this data issue persists past this billing cycle which is the second full month of practically no data reliable enough to use. something has to give.

Just try to see if any towers are getting updated. Network.Sprint.com
I told virgin mobile that if they didn't do something about this i was done with my plan 9/02/12 and that I was going to T-mobile and they said they really couldn't do anything but the did give me $10 for my issue with data. Next time if you have to talk tier 3 ask for their number they have their own number I use to have it before they changed it!

ive got tier 3 number, their worthless also. ive been talking to them for two weeks. each time its lets tinker with your phone putting in worthless codes and causing it to reboot while we pretend to reset you on our network. im not talking with them anymore. some jacknut from tier 3 called me today....to walk through the same old steps ive walked through on several different occasions. i hung up on him. im not taking their calls. let the fcc talk with them. im looking at other options. heres the tier 3 number...call them. maybe they can actually give service to someone. 1-866-553-9810

At least you can understand them and they are from the US... I keep having to talk to the people in India that either cant hear me or know what im talking about untill I start to yell at them to transfer my call to replacements so that i get someone from the US.

Even the speeds on the Evo V are bad (the speeds themselves aren't bad, but the coverage is horrible for 4g).

I was considering upgrading to the Evo V, until I checked the 4G coverage map. My house is right on the edge of a Sprint dead zone, so I'm surprised I get any coverage at all. If I had to rely on 3G for anything more than emails in between home and the office, it would drive me nuts.

I rarely use more than 1MB of data, just because it's so slow. Maybe that's there evil plan? :)

I am looking to buy a 4G hotspot, and it won't be with VM or Sprint.

lol wow. after two going on three months of the worst data service ive ever experienced as a vm customer going as far back as 2005/2006?,the worst cs service experience ever..I get a call waking me from a really nice deep sleep :-/ lol..some joker from vm asking me if my service is working ok yet lol..wow. I said yeah man its blazing fast!! not really..but it was working better and more steady than it had been. I just didnt feel like arguing with them any further on it. They win. Maybe my service issues are really taken care of. It appears to be steady again. If not,Im not even bothering to push the issue. Im just taking some cash I have on hand and making a switch to straight talk or going all out with post paid.

I think I'll be switching to Tmobile's $30 100min//5gb data plan. Unfortunately I live in a tmobile/at&t dead zone, absolutely no service. Only sprint has coverage at my home. Hopefully I'll be able to make use of Tmobiles wifi calling on Android phones, its nice that wifi calling doesnt count against your minutes. But having wifi on all the time at home to receive calls will kill my battery.

Unlimited Wifi calling is only for the 2 year plans! I looked in to that before and it will let you make calls on wifi but it still counts for your 100 min. What I'm using now is Groove IP it is google voice on your phone.

Oh that sucks. Well $^#@

I used to have tmobiles $50/month 500 minute/unlimited text plan, month to month no contract. I had a blackberry 8300 that had UMA wifi calling, and it didnt count against my monthly minutes. Plus, the wifi call quality was amazing. As good as a landline

Wifi is better on battery than 3g/4g is.

Have you looked into US Cellular? They have great coverage, and a peak upload of 1.somthing mbps.

That plan could be for you then since they do let prepaid users to use the wifi calling they just count your mins and with unlimited not really sure they can count anything! (http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/) and I remember T-mobile UMA I had (well still have it just not sure it works) the Blackberry pearl 8120 with MyFaves and UMA. I really wish I still had my Flex-Plan with UMA and MyFaves!

I'm really bummed to say it, but I'm finally giving up on VM. The speeds around here are so bad I'm lucky if I can actually get through a song on Pandora without it having to buffer and it takes forever to just check my email. I ended up being able to pick up a new Samsung GS II from WalMart for $300, so I'm going with Straight Talk. My wife is on ST with an iPhone (I still love her) and her speeds destroy what I get on VM.

If they got their act together, I'd love to stay on VM, but I just don't see that happening any time soon.

Here are my "3G" speeds at 10:40pm. Notice the battery drain from 3 min of use.

I know what you mean about the battery life. I went to try ics again to see if i still had that many issues (I still do) but Tuesday I really didnt send that many text in school (20 to 30) and no calls or apps but it was at 41% when my high school lets out

I just had my Optimus V with Virgin Mobile for 3 weeks. I can say that Virgin's 3G really sucks. The signal is very weak everywhere I go (mostly in shopping area). The download speed is just horrible, like < 100K, and constantly got disconnected.

I think I will switch to T-Mobile asap.
