Vivid/Android Newbie, help?

Ok so this is my first Android phone. How do I get rid of the bloatware on my phone? I find it odd they pack it with AT&T Navigator and what not and you can't uninstall it easily. I tried downloading uninstallers off the Market but no luck. Also, what are the best tools apps out there for killing apps/task manager and apps in general someone should take a look at? Thanks guys!

I don't have mine yet, but, from all I've read, most of the bloatware is locked in to where you'd need at least root, and maybe an unlocked bootloader, to get rid of it. It's not a big deal for two reasons.

1) They didn't put their full bloatware suite on this phone.

2) You can just create a folder for unused apps and move them all there. I did that on my BlackBerry and it can be done on the Vivid. I've been reading the full user manual, which you can download from the Vivid support page on the HTC site (I've been "pre-bonding" with the Vivid in anticipation of getting it.). It shows the folder creation procedure. That doesn't clear the space the bloatware takes up, but you've got 16GB internal and your SD card (if you've installed one) to play with, so it's not really critical at this juncture. Some of the bloatware can be deleted. Things like AT&T Navigator hang around, but I did manage to delete Kindle, YP, Family Map, that dumb music downloading app or whatever, and a few others I can't remember. I kept the code scanner because I actually like to use it sometimes..

Just about all the AT&T bloatware can be uninstalled easily except for AT&T Navigator. Just go to Settings / Manage Applications and uninstall what you don't want (like I said except for AT&T Navigator). Also don't confuse HTC aps as bloatware...they are part of the OS....all HTC apps are not able to be uninstalled...they are part of what makes HTC HTC. The HTC apps are what makes the HTC Sense UI.

The folder creation process to dump unwanted apps into it is not a solution. It isn't a solution because you can only create folders on the Home Screens and you can't create folders in the Main App Drawer. And you also can't hide apps. I read that the Motorola Razr lets you hide apps. That is neat. I wish we could do that.

The only time AT&T Navigator presents a problem for me is when I ask for directions from Google Maps and the the pop up window that results asks if I want to complete the task with AT&T Navigator or Google Navigation. Obviously I want to complete the task with Google Navigation and I don't want to be prompted to ever again for AT&T Navigator so there is thankfully a check box to remember your preference....problem solved.

If you truly want to get rid of AT&T Navigator then the only solution for that is to root your phone and put a custom ROM on it.

your phone locked，you need root your phone and uninstall it with special uninstaller
