VM Intercept Update On Schedule?

My buddy got his this morning too. I wonder when we might see a manual download pop up. I'm surprised it hasn't hit the front page yet.

Manual Froyo Update steps

How would the updating process change if you choose to update later? Could you just select update inside Settings and update in the exact same way as if you had chosen to update directly after downloading?

:)

Yes.

Press Home key
Press Menu Key
Press Settings Key
Select About phone
Select System updates
Select Update Android

If this does not work then call Virgin Mobile USA Customer Service and tell them that you received update prompt but it did not work. They will help you. You can also e-mail them for the same.

:D

Still waiting  (Yeah I know I can go to XDA, but it should have been made available by now. How may of these models are actually on the market?

update

I got the update pop up last night. Still playing with it, but doesn't seem to be faster.

Samsung Intercept has only 256 MB RAM. After System Apps and User Apps only 80-90 MB RAM is left free for users. If we install 20 or more Apps, we can easily consume another 40 MB RAM. That leaves us 40-50 MB RAM free. Also, processor does all functions - Application, Graphics, Floating Point Operations, Digital Signal Processing etc.

Less amount if free RAM and loaded CPU brings down the performance of Samsung Intercept. We have to make sure that we always keep at least 50 MB RAM free. Use Android Assistant and Super Box Apps from Android Market to free RAM time to time. Install only Apps that install on SD card. Move Apps to SD card. Clear Cache time to time using Apps like App Cache Cleaner from Android Market.

LG Optimus V on the other hand comes with 512 MB RAM. It has separate processors for Application, Floating Point Operations, Graphics handling and Digital Signal Processing. It also has separate Modem processor.

We Samsung Intercept owners take consolatiion in Physical slideout keyboard, better speaker and real glass touch screen.

Finally got the update :p . Instead of 5 minutes to be fully up and running, it now takes only about 2:45 :) , my battery life is no better, and in some cases I'm seeing my fully charged battery down to about 30% in as little as 4 hours  . It seems if I run the phone and interact, my battery life is actually better than if i leave the thing alone  . This is by far the worst smartphone I've ever owned.

Some issues with Eclair have improved, but what a lame interface and my wifi and BT power buttons are no longer available from the status bar. I have to go all the way back to the home screen or settings, and then re-open my apps :p . The phone is at least 20% (estimated) slower than before. The phone still occasionally becomes unresponsive. I have to wait a good 20 seconds to see the icons on my desktop after closing an app. My e-books FC on me every 10 pages, and there's this strange itch on the end of my pointer finger that makes me want to be holding my .45 pulling the trigger as I sight in on my phone ;) .
