Voice Google Assistant : Is there any way to activate it without pressing a button?

First smartphone. The Google Assistant is pretty helpful.

Is there any way to have it perform a task without first pressing the button at the bottom of the screen?

Can I say a keyword and then a task? Like on Star Trek, "Computer".

Yes. Set up voice recognition and more . Press that mic and type in assistant settings and have fun exploring it's settings.

Yes, you can activate the Google Assistant hands-free by saying, "Hey Google" or "OK Google" as the wake word.
