My mom is using my old OG droid and she received a voice mail yesterday. She listened to it and deleted it. That was Friday at 2PM, it is currently Saturday at 11PM and the icon in the notification bar is still there, I have looked myself and she did indeed delete the voice mail and "has no messages" could someone tell me how to reset that icon?

You could try rebooting the phone.... if that doesn't work. Send yourself a voicemail and delete it. This usually fixes the problem.

I have tried both of those, and neither have worked, any other suggestions? I have also gone into the personal options when you call voicemail and turned "message waiting indicator" off, but that didn't help either

Really? the send yourself a voicemail, listen to it and delete it trick usually works. Before I send you another tip..... you did clear the notification bar right?

Is there a different way to do that then bringing it down and hitting the clear button? because when I pull the bar down the "clear" button is not even there

Try resetting your voicemail. Dial *73 then leave yourself a message. Delete any messages that are there. If you're using Google voice, switch back to My Carrier first.

If all the above options do not work, you're going to have to reset your phone.

listen to the voicemails again and when you delete voicemails try to use the menu to disconnect, I think you press * to close it and let the call end on it's own and it might help remove the notification. I've had the same issue on other phones and this helped me fix it.
