Voice Navigation Not Coming Through Car Speakers

I just switched from an iPhone to Note 3 a couple months ago. Big learning curve for me.
One frustrating issue is Google Maps voice navigation will not play through car speakers. The phone is paired with my car's blutooth properly (2009 prius). The iphone worked perfectly with Google maps through the speakers. Is there any fix for this?

Do you mean when your listening to the car stereo radio and on the iphone the Google Maps would interrupt and when to take a turn. If that is correct I have the same issue and believe it's a iphone thing as I had the same problem with my s4 and now note 3. If you mean it doesn't work at all even when listening to bluetooth audio then check to see if voice is enabled in google maps

Thanks but it doesn't come through at all on car speakers. The voice instructions only come through the phone, which is not loud enough.
Kind of defeats the purpose of pairing with the blutooth in car. It worked perfectly with iphone.

Try unpairing your phone from car radio and then repair see if that helps also what car stereo do you have

Check to make sure your phone is set to send both media audio and call audio to the car. Click on the settings icon next to your car's Bluetooth name in your Bluetooth menu and make sure both options are checked off.

Ok Same issues here. Your 09 is to old in Bluetooth years. My 07 Rav4 same thing. I thought it was my N3 so I paired with a friends 2013 CRV and it worked perfectly. Works fine with my LG BT headset I were on my MC and I also have a BT unit in my Rav I used to play my iPhone though the speaker on Aux. Sorry not to have better news for you. Maybe Santa will bring us a new car. I know, I know.

Thank You Munnarg, that did it for me too. that was so easy. I could barely hear the directions on my phone. Lol

I am not in my car now but when I try to toggle those it won't allow me to..
Says connecting.
Is that something that has to be toggled when it is connected..
Thanks..

You need to be connected to your car for it to work. Sometimes when you click on it, it highlights the entire connection instead of just the setting part, so that might be your issue as well. When correctly selected, only the icon for the settings will be highlighted.

FWIW. On my Explorer I have to set the radio to bluetooth audio for me to hear Google Maps. It does interrupt and resume my podcast playing on my phone but if I set the radio to FM or Satellite it does not interrupt that.

Just got this phone. Have same problem except when I click on the settings for the BT connection in my car, it does not give the media option. How do I fix that?

I had that problem with another navigation app, Wisepilot (very good app if you are willing to pay but google maps has gotten so much better, I decided not to put wisepilot on). It would come through the speakers if I was using bluetooth and playing music from my phone but if I was listening to fm station, no go. Google Maps wasn't so picky. Now I do drive a 2013 Honda Accord (awesome vehicle no matter what ford claims :) and that may be the car mfg idiosyncrasy. Software differs I imagine from vehicle mfg to mfg.

I got the same problem on my S5 paired with my Golf, all i want is while listening to the radio for the sat navigation directions to interrupt what im listening to over the speakers then return to the radio. I am starting to think this is an android issue with no fix i tried the soundabout suggestions with no luck. I am guessing no one has yet found a workaround

I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna and Camry. My galaxy S3, 4 and note 3 Do not interrupt while listening to the radio for google maps voice navigation.

I also have a Nokia Lumia 1520 and 520. I use with the same cars. They interrupt whatever I am playing on the car. Be it navigation or reading the messages out loud.

I really think its a thing with android. Any settings that we can tweak so it will work even if our car sound systems aren't on Bluetooth?
tapatalk on my nokia 520

Are you saying that you saying that Google Maps directions will interrupt the FM on your 2013 Honda Accord? I'm using Waze on my Honda and it isn't doing that but I haven't tried Google Maps yet.

I'm having the same issue with my Galaxy Note 4. I have a 2011 Nissan Juke, and it is not equipped to do bluetooth audio streaming, but it does do phone calls with Bluetooth. When I had my old iPhone 5, the iPhone 5 would still interrupt the raidio to stream audio from maps navigation or Voxer or any other app, but my Note 4 does not do that. When I go under the settings for my car Bluetooth connection, it obviously only gives the option to stream phone audio and not media audio. Maybe it's just a different way that Android handles Bluetooth. I sure wish there was a solution to get it to stream audio from apps such as maps and Voxer. If anyone has any solutions, I'm all ears.

I have the exact same issue, just switched from iPhone 5s and really would love to have this again. The phone interaction needs to be treated as a Bluetooth phone call instead of Bluetooth audio, then it would interrupt whatever you are listening to.
