I just got my MXPE yesterday, and ever since I activated it I'm constantly recieving a notification that I have a voicemail. Every hour my phone will go off telling me I have a new one, but when I access my voicemail there are no messages. I'm on Sprint, and I've called their support and they've walked me through everything from resetting my voicemail to reprogramming the Sprint code in the phone, but it still won't go away. They suggested taking it into a repair center, but I figured I would come here and ask you guys if you had any ideas before I did something like that

I've had it happen on my g4 a few times and as soon as I called the voicemail, let it do its thing and then pressed the star to disconnect, it went away. If I just hung up after I heard there were no new messages it would stay there. Don't know if your voicemail works the same way though.

I tried that, didn't work. I'm on a call with Sprint advance tech support now

This happens to me a lot more now on this phone than the Nexus 5 what I do is call the voicemail like mentioned above and if that doesn't work leave yourself a voicemail and delete it

Me too with Verizon. No message and will not go away. I kill the phone task in app manager, so it temporarily goes away, but appears again. Comes back on if I disable cell radios and turn them back on or restart the phone. MXPE is the first device with the issue for me.

I went 4 different Sprint reps all tried to help, many resets later and I still have the notification. They told me to contact Motorola, so I did and they basically said it could only be an issue with Sprint and nothing to do with the phone. Next I went to a Sprint store (not an actual one, it was a 'preferred retailer') and my experience was horrible, they tried convincing me my phone wasn't capable of working on the network because I didn't buy it from the Sprint store. When I told them I was getting calls and texts just fine, my only issue was the notification, they said they couldn't do anything because it shouldn't work on the network. Then some guy from the back comes out and says that I can leave the phone with them and they would look at it, and I could come back in a few hours, but they were closing in 20 minutes and I kinda got a sketchy feeling so I left. And that's where I am now, sitting with a Voicemail notification.

I did some research when I got home, I've been finding people with Nexus phones having the same issue, maybe it's just an unlocked phone thing since we don't have the carriers voicemail app

It is a Verizon issue too. Since this is the first device I have ever had this issue and the issue is on more than one carrier, seems it is a firmware issue. I have read the issue is with 5.1.1 with other devices as well, but have no way to confirm. I just know about once a day I have to go into app manager to force stop the middle phone task to remove it.

Maybe you've already done this. I had the same problem with my VZW phone and tried the same steps you tried. Finally did this: Call your cell from a land line, log into your voicemail account, listen to any messages and log off. The icon should disappear. At least it did for me.

I tried that, it said there was no messages and the notification is still there.

Now that 6.0 is out, is anyone still having the issue? I returned my MXPE because I couldn't stand not knowing if I had a voicemail or not, and I wasn't going to call in every couple hours to check.

You can disable notifications by going into the Settings--->Sound & Notification-->App notifications and then choose the app you want to block or enable.
The VM runs through gmail, so you may also be able to disable notifications there as well.

Really? I have the app YouMail. Works great. It's visual capable, I can forward to any email and I can enable/disable notifications and choose custom alerts. Best of all it's free.

If you wanted to use stock VM, you could set up sms alerts and disasble notifications. This way you can get text message alerts, click on them to take you directly to vm. ;)

I dislike most of the stock Google apps and I am running pretty much everything custom.
