On my Samsung phones there was toggle among the other toggles in the notification section (Bluetooth, Wireless, Airplane Mode, etc.) that would allow you to quickly switch between having the ringer on, vibrate mode and silent. Is there no such toggle on the Pixel?

Thanks.

The Pixels don't have it. It was equally frustrating for me when I came over from the Note 7 last year. However, there is an easy workaround by using a great app called Tiles that has the Ringer toggle. I use it for that and for other things. Just a fantastic app. It allows you to add new toggles for all kinds of things in your notification shade.

To toggle vibrate you press the volume button and then touch the bell icon. The do not disturb seems similar to silent mode.
Others use the Tiles app, which is $. 99

+1 for the Tiles app. Just bought it about 10 minutes ago and it's great.
I don't even know 10% of its capabilities yet but it has the ringer tile and that's good enough right now

I downloaded tiles. I like it, but it only toggles ringer volume. What about full on vibrate. I have to go to 3 different tiles to do that? Is there an app that does this the way samsung implemented it? Much easier IMO

I use a widget called A-Volume and it can adjust alarm volume, multimedia volume, voice call volume and then Notifications, System and Ringer all get adjusted when you move one. But then it has radio buttons that you can change everything from Normal to Vibrate to Silent. Has worked great for me since my Moto days.

Hold the volume down button and the phone will go into vibrate mode.

Another option can be found with the System UI Tuner:

To enable the System UI Tuner, drag down the notifications area and then press and hold the Settings gear until you get a message to the effect that System UI Tuner has been enabled. Now, go to Settings -> System -> System UI Tuner -> Do Not Disturb -> Show with volume controls.

Try the Volume Down button thing again to see the effect. Personally, I don't care for it; you might feel differently.

Hi guys. I'd like to resurrect this topic for a little while. The problem is, I've just bought a Pixel 2 phone and the new silent/vibration logic is infuriating.

I like my phone to me in completely silent mode and have my Fossil Q watch vibrate with incoming calls or SMS messages. But now, when I switch the phone into DND, the watch doesn't vibrate. It only works when I have the phone in vibrate which I don't want.

I bought the Tiles app but it doesn't seem to work either. I can't find a way to set the phone in silent but not DND. And I can't find the Fossil Q app in the list of apps on the phone that have DND access which would presumably fix my problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

@Archibald672 - Welcome.

Is the Fossil Q an Android Wear (sorry, Wear OS) device? In the settings of the Wear OS app you can have the phone be silent when the Wear device is connected. At the bottom of the main page of the app on the phone are 4 settings, the top one of those is Notifications - in there is a setting to silence the phone while wearing the watch.

I don't think it is and Android Wear watch. I installed a Wear app to check but it didn't find the watch. Fossil have their own app and there a no such settings in the app.

I've sent an e-mail to Fossil support asking for advice. The thing is, I'd be perfectly happy if my phone didn't vibrate at all when calls come in but there seems to be no such option anywhere. But maybe there's a hack of some kind? :)

There's is an option in Ringtones and in Default Sounds for 'none.'

You'd never have a sound from your phone though unless you go back in and out it back.

Maybe there's yet another app for that ;)
