Vonage Mobile - wakes up itself to ring the phone (battery efficient)

Do you want

1. free calling to any number in US using your cell # (or GV #) without using minutes
2. excellent call quality
3. little battery drain?

Then try out Vonage Mobile app (it's free). It uses Google Cloud Messaging service (push notification) so even if the app is not running in background, it will wake up and ring your phone.

There are 2 drawbacks so this may not be a solution for everyone.

1. You can only receive calls from another Vonage Mobile user. It can't receive regular (PSTN DID) calls.
2. No android integration. It imports your contacts. If the number is not in your contacts, then you need to input the 10 digit # to make a call.

Overall, I recommend this to anyone on $30 Tmo prepaid plan and regularly talks to a small number of people (including iphone users),

I am getting my nexus 4 dec 31th, and going after tmobile 30 bucks prepaid plan , so Vonage app a must have for my phone

I am on T-Mobile 30 dollar 100 min plan and I use Vonage App.
Its good, but on edge network, its not as clear as Viber (ofcourse diff use cases)
overall its good and I will recommend it.
getting my N4 tomorrow and I will install Vonage on it
