VZW: Get now or wait for moto maker?

Does anyone know about insurance? I can't find any information on motorola's site about purchasing, how much, and what it covers. Or do they not have insurance? Can I buy from moto maker and then purchase verizon's asurion?

Hi tomatosouplabs:

Great question! While it would be our pleasure to cover your device, we recommend contacting Verizon directly to see if your account and that device are eligible to be added for coverage. You can also visit Welcome to PhoneClaim.com - File a claim for your lost, stolen, or damaged phone or mobile broadband device. for detailed information about the coverage we offer. We are here to help if you need us.

Thanks!

When Amazon dropped to $50 on contract, I couldn't wait after looking at my reasons:

1. I didn't want to give up my unlimited, but looking back I have never used more than 2GB in any month in the last 3+ years. So why was I fretting over losing unlimited?
2. I really wanted a customized version, so I go on Moto Maker and build a few different versions. I kept coming back to black woven back and black front. I was only going to change the color of the trim. And I bet that will cost me $99 come Monday, definitely not worth $50 over the discounted Amazon black version.
3. I really wanted 32GB. Why? I couldn't come up with a good reason. Since I'm always on WiFi I certainly don't need my music collection on the device. My last phone had 8GB.

Everyone is different, but that was my thought process. Besides -- I was ready to get rid of my 2010-era Gingerbread device (even though it had just recently survived a wash cycle and fully recovered after drying out in a hot car in a sunny day -- I couldn't kill the thing).

I'm starting to think same way about #2 and #3. I think I like the woven black the best and only other one I'd consider is navy, but it doesn't seem to contrast with the black front enough to me, and I don't want white front, and it'll be in a case anyway. So it's really the 32GB. I may never need it or I'll kick myself later for not getting it, I don't know... is it worth the $50 in of itself for more memory. I think, maybe, only thing that might fill up my flash is if I take a lot of videos. Which I don't do a whole lot of.

So my only other incentive to go moto maker is what I said at top that I would feel better getting a fresh built unit. But maybe that's just psychological since I have no idea if anything has changed in production since the first batch.

At least Verizon is not putting any branding on the front of the device.

That is the press image for the Moto G according to Moto G press image leaks ahead of launch - Telegraph

Is the Moto G only going to be offered in those 4 colors? Customization reserved for higher priced Moto X?

From Moto G Rumors: What We May Know About the Moto X's Budget Sibling "It?s unclear if the Moto G will come with the same standout features of the Moto X, such as its Moto Maker customization studio and advanced touchless controls, but its expected to fall in the $200 off-contract price range."

I don't think the picture of the 4 colors on Verizon is the Moto G. If you look at evleaks' Moto G leak, the face of the phone isn't the same as the X. And if you're looking at the back, the Moto G's speaker appears to be to the left of the camera, not the right like on the Moto X.

Good catch. That telegraph article (among others) must be wrong.
