VZW sending a Gnex... so long bolt

Actually, per the audio measurements at gsmarena, your nexus has far better music sound quality than the TB. The audible hiss in the TB's headphone circuit (when using low impedance iems) is my one remaining issue with this phone
This is probably off topic from the original post, but what the heck is 'gsmarena'? And can you steer me to info regarding the hiss? Finally, I must've been absent the day they talked about iems.

Leaving for a SGS II on T-Mobile.
I wanted a GSM carrier anyway, and they had a rebate on the dual-core SGS II. I will eat a prorated ETF the rebate will make up the cost of the ETF.
I tried one last ditch effort at a VZW store this afternoon, they would not budge, only offer me a Razr for $650, I know that is their job, but this crappy phone did one too many reboots, and I hated charging it 3 times a day. One reboot pre-root was during a job interview, yep, lost the job, VZW doesn't care.

I can get about $90 for my Bolt from a place I contacted, so unroot factory restore, and I am done.
I learned rooting from this community, and still (obviously) love Android and AC (hey I won a T-shirt last summer) I will be around.

Not going to root the SGS II (at least not right away ).

Well... since you asked... Personally, I wouldn't be "feeling pretty good" about a phone noted to have such poor voice and data reception. I consider those to be the two most important features of any phone. But, that's just me, I guess.

Sorry for your troubles. You may have better luck calling customer support. Of course, it is kind of a crap shoot, sometimes you get lucky, other times, not so much. Expect to go through 2-4 clnr thunderbolt before they would even consider swapping out to a different phone. And if they do swap, expect it to be a similar phone like the charge or revolution. It is not typical to get a new high end phone as a warranty replacement.

Well...I was sorry to hear of this. I certainly would not want a Nex, but now I may be in the same boat. What started as a connectivity issue led to the promise of a replacement refurb. I just today received the FOURTH replacement, and it was the worst of them. Bricked about 20 minutes out of the box. Now I am faced with the same dilemma. The only replacement for a TBolt would be the Rezound. Wonder if they'll go for it???

Somewhere around the third or fourth refurb you used to be able to talk them into a new unit.
Sounds like they are now using the customers as the people that verify the returned units are defective. :(

Thanks, I called several times, but it never went anywhere. That was my last ditch by going to a VZW store on my lunch hour.

in my experience with VZW, your situation is a rare one indeed. the fact that they basically "jumped you to the front of the line" is pure luck. Given the same situation with 100 other VZW'ers, they would keep feeding us Tbolts, or whatever phone you had. I had 3 replacement Eris' phones, and everytime I mentioned getting a different phone (even if I paid the difference) I was denied with extreme prejudice!! I'm glad to see that some of us can "upgrade" in a situation like this, but as a general rule, it's not going to happen, no matter how much you jump up and down. NOW.....good luck with that Nexus, I work with two people who have them. let's just say they wish they would have gone Razr or even Bionic. i hope your unit is exempt from the flaws that I see and hear about daily.

If you ask to speak to someone in Retention you will most likely be helped. Used to be of you had 3 replacements you would be given a choice of at least two different phones to choose from. I wouldn't want a Bionic or Samsung.

I heard they've eliminated the "Retention Department" due to belt-tightning and whatnot. No?
