Wait just a minute! How 2 Change Black background to White background?

I am having the same problem. My settings menu has a black background with white font. I have the S4. My girlfriend has the S3 and her threads for text messaging have a black background with white font. Can anyone figure this out on either phone please?

Root only !

I'm on Verizon and my backgrounds are white with black type. The phone came this way and I don't see a setting to change it. Not that I would want to as I really dig the white background.

Root and look on Google for the 3 apps with the black background, then just copy the ones you have in system-apps, including the secMMS.odex, because in order to avoid a black on black (black fonts) where you can't see what you write on the messaging apps, then replace the original ones with these ones and change permissions to 644, delete the secMMS.odex file and reboot, you will have what you want, trust me, that's what I did and it works just fine.

We can't post links to other forums, but the files you need are in the Themes and apps sub forum of the well known developer forum. ;)

Haven't read through all the posts (skimmed through), but the international version is different from the American ones from what I was told. If you're in the states, contacts/etc. should be white bg with black text. If you're elsewhere, it can vary from place to place, but for the most part should be black bg.

There's an app on Google Play called (I think) wallpaper. It offers many many shades of every color and if you choose one to be your wallpaper, that's it. They have whie, many slightly "off whites" etc. It is free. There is a paid version with a color wheel which allows you to be totally precise. I used it for years on my Droid Charge and now on my Verizon SG4.
I also "lost" the only picture I could tolerate for the swipe screen - don't even ask how..... I took the measurements of a swipe screen picture, including pixels, density etc. and created my own swipe screen in Photoshop as a jpg. It's working beautifully. I'm not sure but I suspect you could do the same thing for your wallpaper.

Yes it is possible to change the background from black to white.
I changed mine. I ll show you in a while how to do it.

Yes please. We've been grappling with this issue since the phone came out.

Again, if you are root, then just follow my post (I can't post links but just read well and you will find the information without issues) and simply download the 3 secContacts.apk, secMMS.apk, and secPhone.apk from the other site, copy the original ones just in case, then replace them with the ones you downloaded, change permissions to 644, and then delete the secMMS.odex file, reboor your device and you will have your Black backgrounds.

As far as I know, there is no way to do the same if you are not root.

I'VE FIGURED IT OUT! Well at least for the messages background at least you don't have to root; anyways, first go to the main messages screen, then press the soft key to the left of the home button and go to settings, then scroll down to display, play with it to your liking and there you go!

Hi erasat, sounds like you know what you're talking about, please hook me up.

The Modded Black Phone and Contacts Apps stopped working after the latest Firmware version, I mean obviously if you updated then you lost your root, but even now that a new root method appeared, the MMS app works, but the Contacts App crash all the time, and without it, the Phone doesn't load, it force close and tell you that the Contacts app crashed, if you try leaving the Original Contacts App (White) it doesn't crashes the Phone App, but for some reason even when you have the modded one that it suppose to be black, it still white.

So in a summary, only thing working with black background is MMS, I have tried it in my Att&T one and in my friend's T-Mobile's, and that one is not even updated, it's weird...

White background here and hate it. Feels like it should have a Fisher-Price label on it. Very kids toy look.

You guys could always look on XDA developers as they tend to have themes for things like this. I've seen a few black/white themes.
