Is there a folder/directory name I should place wallpapers in on my sd card that will be picked up as a "wallpaper" without having to goto the gallery?

unless things have changed, no. All photos placed on the SD will be in gallery. I believe you can create a directory called wallpapers and then the phone will show folders in the gallery.

I understand that. However I wanted to use larger format files that are the correct aspect ratio buy the gallery screws that up and the pictures don't end up looking right.

No worries, I can do what I want/need after I root it.

if you figure out how to put photos directly into the default wallpaper gallery please PM me i would like to know, ive been rooted 6 months and have not figured that out
