Warning: Camera failed.

While taking some pictures today, my S9 gave me a "Warning camera failed" message in the middle of the viewfinder screen. Only thing to do was press the "OK" button. What is going on? My Sandisk 64gb memory card is only 30 percent full. Also, was there a recent automatic update recently affecting the camera app? The layout seems to have changed a bit.

I took a screen shot pic of the failure message but can't figure out how to post the pic via my phone.

Long press the camera app>tap info >try clear Data, cache and force stop it , see what happens? Not a good sign that error came up.

Here's a screenshot of the warning message. Anyone ever get this before?

Have you tried what I suggested?

When I tap on the camera app, I don't see a choice to clear data or cache. Only choice is to tap on "Force stop". When I tap on Force Stop, an alert window shows up that says "If you force stop an app, it may cause errors" Then to choose either "Cancel" or "Force stop" to continue. So I didn't do anything but cancelled out of this warning screen.

No it's ok , force stop it

I tapped on the Force stop button. Then went back to my home screen. The camera seems to work fine. Actually, that problem only happened a couple days ago while shooting a dozen candid still pics. Camera then continued to work again after those couple error messages. It was just a random occurrence that happened for a minute, then it was okay again. So I cannot even replicate this same problem.

Let's see what happens then try again if it pops up to troubleshoot it.

I've had that happen to my camera while shooting a lot of pictures in a row. it was in Phoenix in the summer and my phone overheated and I couldn't shoot more pictures until the phone cooled down.

An update here. A couple weeks ago, I installed whatever Samsung "security" software that was available. Since then I haven't had another camera failure warning. Fingers crossed of course!!

Happened to me with my S7 Edge once for the same reason (long exposure photos)

Last update on this topic. Reason I'm saying last update is cuz I...wait for it...got a new Note 10 Plus a few days ago!

I thought my S9 phone was "fixed" from the camera failure message, but in fact the same problem occurred a few more times. But I noticed it wasn't so random after all. The camera failure happened during times when I was using the zooming function on the screen. After zooming in, the camera error message would happen, not just once but a few times. Frustrating! This happened even after my S9 received a couple of minor software updates within the past few weeks.

Anyway, I'm hoping my new Note 10+ won't experience the same problem, all fingers and toes crossed!!!

Remove the sd card

This series of Samsung have known history , bad camera modules, some trouble shooting steps worked and some haven't
Seems like lately we are seeing more and more devices that don't go too far past the year mark without things failing.

I'm running a Note 9 from online release day that that has frankly been flawless, thus far. Figure it will be two years old in August, and it's been the best phone I've ever owned by a comfortable matgin.
