I've made a zip file that i am not confident at all will fix the issue and not willing to do this to my GF's phone just to test

- DOWNLOAD THIS FILE
- Place the file on the root of your SD card. I dont care if you put your sd card in another phone, mount that phone to the PC, drag it over, then put the SD back into the slider. I dont care if you use a microsd to usb adapter. Basically, just get the zip onto the root of an SD card, then get that SD card into your slider
- Boot into custom recovery
- Flash the zip

This is a test, i make no promises and it comes with no warranty although it should go without saying that, how much worse could it get for your phone. If you're testing this, you're already SOL.

I remember once doing this for the Optimus V... I think there was a way to get it to not be dead anymore but I really don't care to experiment.

There was a way to fix but it was because recovery was debuggable on that device. This is not which means if you can't ADB, you're SOL

I don't like the Gelato rom.. I miss the stock rom and would like to somehow go back to a completely stock Optimus Slider..

Custom recovery? I'm sorry, what do you mean?

I just bought the (Virgin Mobile) Optimus Slider for my father as a xmas gift. It's his first smartphone. Does this apply to all users or just people who have rooted their phone? He won't know how to play with the OS, nor will he care to. I'm just confused if this warning will apply to him?

oh god i did just that today and it just reboots to the CMW v5.0.2 i cant get past it and boot the system and that boot loop fix didn't work for me at least , maybe cause min is straight talk, im gonna go out tomorrow and buy a new one and see if i can get the recovery.img of it some how then reflash the one i have with your boot fix zip. maybe replace ur slider recovery with mine it might fix it . any opinions on it?

You'll need to flash stock ROM. If you made a backup of the stock ROM like you were suppose to after rooting and installing custom recovery, you can flash that and fix it hopefully.

yeah the (shot in the dark, maybe, possibly, hopefully) "fix" i posted in the OP is designed for the Virgin Mobile Optimus Slider. Don't figure it would be of much help on the Straight Talk Optimus Q unfortunately :-\

I dont have any level of confidence it would work even on a VM optimus slider but i feel better saying i tried and failed than never trying at all.

ok i got a questions if u would know about what files android looks for on boot? i can use adb to see files on the phone but not sure if maybe i can delete cwm or maybe its in the flash memory, is there even a way to uninstall the cwm and what file would that be under?

Funny you mention that, and not to go off on a tangent but, it pisses me off that companies don't do more to protect consumer from themself which in turn would save the company money by less damage phone claims.

If:
- All phones had accessible unlocked bootloaders so people could fastboot flash files in dire needs.
- All phones were set to look to boot an OS from the SD prior to looking to internal storage.

These 2 things on any phone would completely eliminate bricks/returns as a result of software issues. Two software changes, which would only cost a couple hours of coding time, would yeild a significant payout for the company ::SMH:: ok .... down off my soapbox

Let me preface by saying this is an educated guess. I can't promise i didnt pull all this out of my butt at :::looks at watch::: 3am lmfao. When the phone first boots it should use the boot.img aka the kernel. Without the kernel, your screen wouldnt even turn on because it's got the drivers and yadda yadda. Almost simultaniously i would think it's looking for /system because obviously the OS is there but before it can boot it's going to need lib's and framework from the system.

Recovery is in /recovery. I wish i had some time to dedicate to working on this with you because your phone is not dead, theres usually a way it's just up to us to find it. Have you tried re-applying the custom recovery? If not you should .... worth a shot.

yea i agreee with u on that , its actually easier to flash an iphone's firmware then this apparently , u can brick an iphone and somehow still bring it back from the dead no problem. well heres what i have done so far and im a newb at this android stuff sorry for future idiocity on the subject of flashing and repairing roms and such but i do like to learn new things and figure stuff out so here whats i've done :

1)bought a new phone and created a back up from the phone itself
2)tried restoring "dead" phone from back up ,no luck
3)tried flashing rom from jondevere's rom he posted in the thread,no luck
4) tried ADB and tried to find out system files and such (generally exploring system files and bin folders) which btw who ever wrote the software omg such a pain in the ass for anyone who doesnt know how to use the program for
5)thrown across the room at 5am
6)tried the optimus bootloop fix

im not entirely sure on how to go about reflashing the cwm without the terminal from the other thread,the only way i think i could would be to adb shell and copy the files to sd card then flash like that .again im not too profeciat with that program and at 5am ....yano lol
and yes i do try and google alot i've looked around its kinda strange that android is sooo different on every type of phone you think they would try to make it more the same rather then have a varied rom for each phone

ok was just thinking about what u said about the kernal loading and if there wasnt anything there it woudlnt boot. a question is the file in the /system/bin are they hidden files? since the cwm gets flashed into that folder but yet i dont see it anywhere named LGL55C_recovery.img as that file nor do i see a file named recovery .im very curious as to how this actually boots cause thats probably where the error is maybe its the first file being booted or is there maybe a boot.ini or something

hey KT figured out that if u hold Power+Vol Down+back on the front of phone it will go into emergency mode

Despite reading this warning beforehand, I did a factory reset like an idiot on my Slider. It was after I had restored from my backup of the stock ROM so I thought it would be OK to do a factory reset, and it definitely wasn't. The fix didn't fix it, so if you need a guinea pig to test out any other possible fixes, let me know :-\. Until then, I have a fancy new paperweight!
