Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

ASUS and Google said they are proud of having made Nexus 7 from scratch in 4 months.
They should've spent more time for better quality control and better hardware design.

#1 had a dead microphone (C60)
#2 had a terribly lifting display glass (C60)
#3 had 11 dead pixels (C70)
#4 has a worse lifting display glass than #2, and has 7 dead pixels (C70)

All of them had bleeding back light, and bad and inconsistent screen calibration.

Google should choose other partners for the next Nexus tablet, or they should learn how to do hardware design and quality control by themselves.

I decided to keep #4. No more meaningless RMA.

Mine was defective 16gb model, had the dreadful screen lifting issue. Had to return to Asus for a replacement, took three weeks to get new N7.

I thought mine was OK, had it 6 weeks and just noticed the screen lift :( I do also get flickering and occasional unresponsive screen but neither of those problems bother me. The screen lift is a different matter. Ringing Asus tomorrow.

I had one with flickering and a clicking bezel and I returned that to Walmart and ordered online, my new one has serious screen lifting and clicks in my left hand when holding it. They have a replacement coming.

I won't be the type to go through 10 so if the replacement is bad, I'm going to return it and hold out until the kinks are fixed.

Perfect condition and addictive. Purchased direct from Google. 16gb version.

My first one was defective. For the most part, the touchscreen was unresponsive to taps and swipes. I just got a new replacement yesterday and last night I put the device through the wringer and so far so good.

I was one of the first to receive the Nexus 7 in July. Screen separation for me was noticeable a couple weeks ago and has gotten progressively worse. Called Google today and they are shipping a replacement right away. I wish more companies were like Google.

BTW, the Google guy assured me the problem with the screen separation has been resolved.

He lied to you. Just checked out a fresh batch the store got in, the C70 had the same screen lift problem as the other 21 I returned did. Today was number 22 yay for Google quality control. And half the shipment were C50's. Are they now just reshipping all the TOTALLY 100% defective ones back out?

Yeah nobody believes you anymore. Oh by the way the first units were c60 not c50. Must have been a typo...right?

Lol if you're going to lie make it a believable one

Got my 16GB from Google Play a couple of days ago---C70. Because of this thread, I inspected the unit like no other device I've purchased lately.

At the risk of jinxing myself, the screen has absolutely no lift issues and as far as I can tell, there are no dead pixels. If there is any screen light-bleed, it's not noticeable to me. I downloaded "Screen Test" from the Play Store specifically to test the screen.

I primarily bought the Nexus 7 to replace my Nook e-reader. I know that most people prefer the e-ink for reading, but no matter how much I tried I couldn't get enough light on the screen to be comfortable for me (I have early cataracts). The back-lit LCD screen makes reading a pleasure for me again.

I don't know if my Nexus 7 is "perfect," but it's perfect for me and the quality is better than I expected for the price. JMO and personal experience with my specific Nexus 7.

I'm sorry for finally breaking down and asking this, but how old are you, Neller?

I just ordered my 16 Gb from the Play store Friday 8/24, hoping it'll be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Hopefully it be problem free, though if it's just the bezel lifted from the screen I'm fairly certain that's an easy fix; from what I heard you pop the back and tighten the screws.

That hasn't always worked for everybody though.
