Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

Bought From Play Store.
- 1st Nexus 7: Defective Speakers
- 2nd Nexus 7: Screen Lift
- 3rd [Current] Nexus 7: Light Bleed With Multiple Dead Pixels.

Received My 2nd Replacement [3rd Nexus 7 (C70)] Yesterday Evening, Seems The Screen Is Suffering From Light Bleeding As Well As Several Dead Pixels. Will Be Giving The Play Store A Call In A Couple Of Hours To Order My 3rd Replacement :-!

I Guess I Just Have To Keep On Ordering Replacements Until I Finally Get A Defective Free Device :-\

PS: Everyone Who's Posting Comments Such As "Learn To Live With It, Its Just A Minor Issue"... I Want The Product That I Payed For! Not Some Defective Piece Of Crap! :-$

Why did you make the first letter of every word you typed a capital?

I got a perfect one on the first try, but but what's up with people who say that the glaring build problems can be justified due to its low cost? The consumers pay the 200$ with the rightful expectation of receiving a product as advertised and in a perfect and new condition. What would be justified is for Google/Asus to increase the price if that's what's needed to ensure quality, but putting out half baked products is unacceptable unless if this is what the consumers are knowingly paying for. Yea, there's bound to be some machines that slip through the cracks but I mean come on...look at the frequency of people getting defective products

Okay, let's look at the frequency. But lets not do so here, where the whole idea is to get help with problems. Instead, lets look at a more objective place. The reviews on amazon.com, where people don't go to post their complaints so much as to post their experiences are overwhelmingly positive. The last I checked, it was 4 and a half stars out of 5. That's over 80 percent who apparently had no major hardware issues.

Nobody is saying that. We're just saying that a lot of people have too high of expectations for this particular device. I'm willing to bet that you don't look at your tv or mp3 player working hard to find any possible defect that you can find. Yet that's what people seem to be going with the nexus.

I had a kindle fire for a year. I completely and utterly enjoyed it. However, looking back now, judging from remarks on this board I probably should have have hated it. . Because I seem to recall now that there was some creaking when I squeezed the case. So I guess this was a looseness in the case that should not have been there. But the difference is I didn't look hard, desperately trying to find any minor flaw. And so I enjoyed it. But as I said, I suppose according to people here I should have hated the thing,so I'm sorry for not hating it. And I'm sorry for not joining you in your crusade to analyze this thing with a microscope to see if I can find some tiny little flaw that will make me hate it.

60 Serial number from Walmart 13 days ago & it is PERFECT. No issues. I suspect a lot of the negative post are junk posts as I know a dozen people with same experience as mine. FWIW I added Stump holder &Jar speaker with great results. IMO it is best value out there.

Yes, of course. If someone didn't have the same experience as you they must be liar.

I received mine from Google last week in perfect condition. It's solid with no sign of any defect, screen separation, dead pixels--very high quality. It has exceeded all expectations.

I've had three 8GB tablets from Office Depot:

First was a C60. Battery life was five hours at best

Second was a C70. It had a line of dead pixels right down the center of the screen.

I'm on my third now, a C60. So far, looks good. No dead pixels, and it's gone three hours playing "Transformers" using only a third of the battery.

I got my 16 gig Nexus 7 from Staples yesterday after ordering it on line the day before. I also had a $25 off coupon so it was $224 + tax. In addition I got the $25 Google Play credit.
UPS delivered it to the store from the distribution center, and the store had not opened the box and did not know it was there or even that it was coming in, The store is small and never gotten in any Nexus 7's.
I found a good video on Pinterest (The Tablet Pro / How to Open the Google Nexus 7 Box) about unboxing. Many of YouTube videos are more entertainment and not very informative, but I wanted to know exactly what the packaging should look like to ensure it was original. The Staples Manager agreed to pull off the cardboard sleeve to be sure the factory tape was in place, I also saw it was a C70. I did the rest of the unpackaging at home and everything was as it should be.
I did the tests suggested by vgjfelix on YouTube and this site to check and test the screen. It passed fine.WIFI hooked right into our system. I also made sure the headphone jack worked, which was challenging. It mean pushing the plug in harder than I would have liked. At first it didn't work, but after holding the plug in the jack for about a minute it stayed on its own and is fine. Bluetooth connections worked after finding and reviewing directions for devices and doing it right.
I will run the screen test apps periodically to make sure I don't have dead pixels, etc. during the 15 day return period. In a worse case I bought it with AMEX which will cover it for a year.
So I pronounce my Nexus 7 perfect, at least as of now.
I really love it!!!!

Mine has been absolutely flawless so far. Bought it 8 days ago and it's doing just fine. I drove over 150 miles round trip to fins one at a store in my area. Well worth the gas! Got a 16gb model and so far, so good.

There has been many reports of defects so out of interest is your unit defective or working fine?

Mine is working perfectly fine

16gb model bought from PC world in UK

UPDATE - Up to Post #341

280 Total Units

148 - 16GB
32 - 8GB

Total Defective

102 - 16GB
5 - 8GB

Total Percentage Defective
36% Defective

16GB Defective - 41%
8GB Defective - 16%

Keep the posts coming

These are starting to become quite scary figures, the majority are the screen not being stuck down properly.

I agree that the results are probably biased towards defective units so these figures can only be taken with a pinch of salt.

What defect rate do you think a company would feel is acceptable for a new product like this?

If I take the screen lift out of the equation, the percentages are as follows.

UPDATE

I have removed units with just the screen issue, if they had the screen lift plus other problems I have still counted them. The defective percentages are still pretty high even without the screen lift.

Total Defective - 13%

16GB Defective - 13%
8GB Defective - 6%

16GB ordered from the Play Store on 6/28. Had it over a month now and it has been Perfect.

Bought a 16 gb a couple of weeks ago from Walmart. No screen separation or defects that I've seen. The one thing I have noticed are horizontal screen artifacts where a few lines briefly black out. Anyone else seen this? Its been very rare, maybe 3-4 times total and I haven't seen it in a few days so I wonder if it was a certain app that was glitching that I've since deleted. I've been trying out various apps so it'd be hard to pinpoint.

Since its been very infrequent it hasn't bother me. I'll update if I see any increase.

16gb bought on 8/18 from Gamestop locally. It is perfect aside from very slight screen lift on the left side. Not worth the hassle of sending it/bringing it back currently, in my opinion. If it gets worse, I may consider an exchange.

I was one of the first to receive the Nexus 7 in July. Screen separation for me was noticeable a couple weeks ago and has gotten progressively worse. Called Google today and they are shipping a replacement right away. I wish more companies were like Google.

BTW, the Google guy assured me the problem with the screen separation has been resolved.
