What else are we going to do for the next two weeks?![]()
Nope. Android Authority even reports Samsung using plastic substrates for at least the edge panels. Considering a plastic substrate is cheaper than glass substrates, I'd think they'd do it on their other panels too. This to my best knowledge is incorrect. Samsung has to date been using glass substrate OLED. I think that they are now moving towards plastic for the truly bendable displays. S8 series may be the first Samsung high-end with plastic substrate but I'm not 100% sure that the S8 series is in fact using plastic substrate.
Thanks for posting. I agree with MKB's points on design and aesthetics. It's definitely not my favorite phone design and the side bezels are noticeably thick for 2017. But, functionality is there and that counts for something. Two more weeks and we can check them out in person. This will kill about 9 minutes.
2 XL adds a larger screen, higher capacity battery, more people who will like you, a few more years on your life, and the ability to eat bacon every day without risking clogged arteries. It's quite remarkable for $200.Pixel 2 fail that's what I think I take the 6p over the pixel 2 and that 200 difference just for the bigger screen Dame google don't be come like Apple

Solution: Don't put it next to a Galaxy. This is correct, because the V30 has the same issues and a lot has to do with POLED. The V30 display is terrible actually, especially when you put it next to a galaxy.
The V30 display is still bad.Solution: Don't put it next to a Galaxy.
Boom.
Crap. Thought I nailed it there. lolThe V30 display is still bad.

Well, at least there's a 15-day return policy. It won't take me that long to decide though. I already have two other options on my radar if the 2 XL is a bust.
it just looks bad next to a Samsung with adaptive display on. this is my s6 edge + with colors on normal I'm guessing the poled display will look similar and I actually like the true to life colors rather than blown out reds and blues.Solution: Don't put it next to a Galaxy.
Boom.
It has nothing to do with true to life colors. Trust me, I'm a photographer and I appreciate accurate colors. The problem with the V30 display is, its looks cheap, Colors aren't accurate, but washed out and the sensitivity is off. I assume is their new poled which will likely improve over time.it just looks bad next to a Samsung with adaptive display on. this is my s6 edge + with colors on normal I'm guessing the poled display will look similar and I actually like the true to life colors rather than blown out reds and blues.//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171006/dacec807f55fdb186321929d7b063ae5.jpg

Color accuracy is very good on the Pixel 2 XL. Maybe some folks are used to less accurate color modes?
