Watch3 Battery life.

I've had the Watch3 (upgraded from an Active 2 and had the original Galaxy Gear) for 3 days. I noticing the battery life is really bad. I have it set up exactly like my active 2 but I get at least 12-18 hrs less battery life. I charged it yesterday to 100%. I put it on before going to bed. Turned on airplane, do not disturb and Goodnight modes (just like I've always done with my active) woke up to 91% (active usually 96%). Disabled all the modes I enabled. I haven't done much with the watch like I normally would. Took a walk enabled walk tracking. Walked 45 min. Now, 4.5 hrs after starting my day the battery is at 67%. Normally the active would be at 80% or better. At this rate I'll have to charge it every evening. The active I charged every other day. Is there a 'break in' period for a new watch like there is a cell phone? Or is this what I can expect?

What sizes are your watch3 and active 2?

I have noticed a pretty big difference in battery life, but I came from the original galaxy watch. As far as I know, the active 2 and watch3 are almost the same device in different casings.

I have the 40mm Active and 41mm watch3. The specs are pretty much the same. Same size battery. Only real difference is the Tizen OS. Active Tizen 4.0 Watch3 Tizen 5.0. I expected at least the close to the same battery life. Currently my watch is at 54%. I have had it off the charger since 11:00 pm last night. It won't make it thru tomorrow. My active totally would have made it to tomorrow's evening.

I can get 3 days out of the 45mm. But I don't use the AOD, GPS, nor do I sleep with the watch. I turn it off at night.

It's currently 13:50 on day two with my 45mm and I'm at 38%, I'll be surprised if it makes it to bedtime.

It's a bit weird that sleep tracking is a marquee feature on a watch that will need charging every night.

I wear mine while sleeping. I charge it when I take a shower in the evening and put it on before going to bed. I usually have to charge my active 2 every other day.
I reset my watch3, charged it 100% put it on before bed. I woke up to 96% so more of what I am use to seeing from my other watch. So hopefully all is well now.

Today my battery life took a turn for the worst. Not sure why but it was at 50% at noon. I took it off the charger at 6 in the morning. I have had to charge it twice today. If this keeps up, I will need to have it looked at.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I put watch on yesterday morning after charging overnight. I am at 76% now at 1 pm on day 2. 45mm, lte variant. I have not used the gps, aod or lte radio in that time. I have had it track some exercise (45 minutes). track stretching, 3 pulse ox readings. My use is a little less than 1% per hour which is a great drain for my purposes.

I tried turning it off the back on. That didn't work for me so I had to resort to a reset. Which wasn't a big deal since I had the watch only a few days. The reset is what worked for me.

I find resetting any Android device keeps them running much better no issues. I also have to reset my iPhone once a year when it starts to act up.

Does the 45mm have a little bigger battery? I have BT model 41mm. I have GPS off and don't use aod. I took the watch off the charger this morning at 8 and currently at 52% not good. I did have the watch track my hour walk which is normal for me to do each day. It did a bit better the day I reset it which was 3 days ago. I don't want to reset every few days. That doesn't seem like some thing should have to do all the time. I may need to contact Samsung. The watch is just a week old. My active2 lasted a good 18-24 hrs longer. It lasted a solid 2 days this watch a day and maybe few hours into the next.

The battery is quite a bit bigger, 340mAh on the 45 and 247mAh on the 41.

I've been consistently getting 2 days just barely on my 45 but i have AOD on.

One thing you can do to eke out a few more minutes is, if you have Bixby activated, turn off "hi Bixby" and use the home button.

Samsung really didn't try very hard with the internals of this watch. Profit margins must be astronomical.

I’m getting 2 day battery life on my watch . I do power it off at night and turn it back on in the morning

Bluetooth only, Location off (dunno how that happened but I turned it on, GPS only.) Brightness at, 2 and WiFi always off. Took it off the charger around 11:30pm and 12 hours later I'm at 73% using the live weather face. I would say over the past what 2 weeks that the GW trumps GW3 in battery performance hands down, but with the new health focuses (including the ones yet to be enabled) I think I am sticking with the GW3. The GW is still in my arsenal and when I start running semi regularly using bluetooth headphones the true test will begin.
