I have a very large collection of full length movies on MP4 files, and, with a 256 gig SDXC card, I put a lot of them on my phone. When I watched them from my S7 Edge on the Gear VR, however, many titles would look considerably pixilated. I wondered if the great screen resolution on my S8+ would make a difference, and I am thrilled to say, yes it does! I just checked out one of my favorite films, and one that specifically had been the most pixilated, "Mulholland Drive," and it looks so good! When the monster that was hiding behind Winkies jumped out, it really jumped out. The erotic scenes were, shall we say, intense. I watched, by the way, from the moon, one of the selection of theatres (go>Oculus Videos>My Videos>Video selection>theatre choice>the moon), so the Planet Earth, galaxies, the Milky Way and other things were all around the big screen. Next, I will see if Netflix is improved. Of course, you only get to watch that from your private screening room in your mansion in the Rocky Mountains, but it's okay.

By the way, I am using a Zagg tempered glass screen protector (yes, the outrageously expensive one), and it is no problem. On another thread, someone said that it would make Gear VR impossible. Nope, it doesn't - well, not mine, anyway

Thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to getting mine in 6 to 8 weeks. I also really think VR is about to take off. With the Gear 360 and FB getting ready to launch a similar product, I can imagine friends and family posting things from Europe that I get to explore from my couch.

Do you happen to know if you can attach a network storage device to view videos in VR? I know I can use plex through the samsung browser but it may work better using the nas drive directly through a file explorer.

Well you can access the internet, so it would seem to be possible.
