Is there an easy way to save YouTube and google play movies to nexus 7 so I can watch later on airplane? No WiFi is the issue.

Try PVStar+ and TurboDownloader for YouTube - google play is problematic since many / all of it's movies have DRM but you can download your movie from them (Pinning) for offline viewing, if I recall correctly. Buying a DVD and ripping/encoding gives you more options for viewing and moving vids to wherever you want them and there are already many threads about that here.

edit:

You can use MXplayer, BSplayer, or Diceplayer to view the files after downloading if you like. You may need to install flash player to view certain vid files in your browser as well. See the sticky on flash

I use jetVD (no, the VD doesn?t stand for that; I think it's Video Download!) to download and save from YouTube. It works well with the option to choose the quality of the video (720p, 1080p,etc). It's not available on the Google Play Store. I got it from SlideME Market (http://slideme.org Or download their market app here http://slideme.org/sam. Don't worry, they're a legitimate alternate app store. ).
