We got pwned by the RAZR!!

I'm probably returning my Bionic...I have until Friday to do so. I've already sold my Thunderbolt, so I'll have to find something to get me by.

That thing looks sweet, and the lapdock 500 is a no brainer compared to ether one we have now.

Hopefully it's early November, but I'M not holding my breath.

it is beyond frustrating.

It seems almost like they released the bionic just to say they released it after all the delays when they had this in the pipeline concurrently.

don't get me wrong I like my bionic but it still burns to see this so soon afterwards. I guess I can hope for a delay or major bugs on launch

:) Like about a 22 month delay? LOL!

I agree in the general sense that there's no keeping up with the latest (unless one is obscenely rich), but coming so soon after the Bionic, I suspect my wife will trade hers in for the RAZR--I mean WHY NOT? :)

See, and my wife has been due for an upgrade since early this month. She was waiting to see what the RAZR and Nexus are like before making a decision. Great to have variety.

She doesnt like the RAZR at all strictly because of its looks (thats a woman for you ;) ).

I dont see what all the fuss is about myself. They are very different phones, so what if Moto had a huge presentation to announce this phone. It isnt like they are pulling the bionic from the shelves! Halting production! stopping support for the device!

With the Nexus just around the corner, why wouldnt they pump this phone as hard as they can? They have alot to compete with on this release. The Bionic didnt.

Just my 2cents for what their worth.

Marketing a device as "control it, and you control all machines" and hyping it as the best Android device around was misleading. Please. I'm not going to explain to you how inferences work. It was logical to believe that Moto/VZW wasn't going to be pushing out another dual core, LTE Android device in a month.

Uh huh.. now one's story has changed from being "blatantly lied" to, to "mislead me into making an inference that turned out to be incorrect.."

Subtle difference..?

@dave1812: Women are finicky creatures, lol. At least you're not as bad :P

@JoJoCal19: I'm not questioning your right to post here.. just your motivations when all you appear to be doing is repeatedly trumping the short turnaround period between the bionic and razr, while not even listening to the many points myself and others like mbentley made about why it doesn't even bother us in the least. Again, these short periods are going to keep getting shorter anyway, even by the same manufacturer, that's how it goes.

And again my point from before, if Moto dished out a piece of junk for the bionic before releasing this awesome razr phone, then I could see reason to complain, but bionic owners have a lot to be pleased with regarding their device, IMO.

Here's a fun game: Watch what happens in the Droid RAZR forum around the holidays when even new phones come out with a few slightly more impressive specs..

It will be interesting to see if yet another 4G phone making it's way to Verizon dissuades the iPhonenatics from sticking with Cupertino's wares.

I've been waiting for something to come along and do that. Got the TB and returned it. Bad experience. Had a lot of hands on time with the Charge and that didn't cut it, although the screen was like candy. I thought the Bionic would be the one but the camera didn't cut it for me and the screen didn't please me any. I figured the next crop might do it. So it may be either the RAZR, Rezound or Nexus that might bring me back. Either way, it's an exciting time to be an Android fan. So many choices and Verizon is about to own the Android market with the Bionic, RAZR, Rezound, Nexus among the INC 2, DX2 and Rhyme for the lower end.

This is my last day and, I think I'm taking my Bionic back. It's a nice phone but, I feel I must take a chance to see what the Razr and Nexus phone have to offer. If iI weren't for the signal issues I might have not thought about returning it but, I can't pass this chance up.

A couple of you talked about Super-Amoled not being good in the sunlight. That's not true, in fact; that is one of the advantages of the display. I remember that on my Nexus S and, it was awesome.

I'm glad you guys are happy with your phones but, not having the Bionic for that long and, being this close to the other phones releases, I can't pass up this chance.

Nexus and GSII are different devices - stock, vanilla experience v. TouchWiz, etc. And like you pointed out but seemed to dismiss as irrelevant for some reason, the Nexus will be coming to VZW and NOT the carriers that just got the GSII for quite some time.

And as for the GSIII, that's a ways to go, especially for stateside.

Actually, I said its likely that it WILL come to other carriers and not just Verizon(but we won't know for sure until the announcement). The Bionic and the Razr are different devices. The thread is about the same manufacturer releasing "flagship" phones so close to each other which is what Samsung may very well be doing.
Also, like I said, a phone that is rumored to be the GS3 just passed through the FCC and could be close to release.
Maybe you should read a post more thoroughly before criticizing it.

If Samsung released the Nexus on Sprint/ATT/TMO then yes it'd be tantamount to the same thing. But they are not and it will be some months before they get it.

That's extremely LAUGHABLE if you think Verizon is getting the SGS III anytime soon. Verizon would do well to get the SGS III by next September.

Your example isn't the same as what's being done by Moto.

My example, if it holds true, is exactly the same as what's being done by Moto. We don't know if/when the other carriers will get the Nexus, but like I said, it MAY happen very soon. We'll find out tonight(perhaps)
And like I said, a phone rumored to be the GS3 with LTE just passed through the FCC. So while it might be a while before Verizon gets it, its far from laughable that they could get it much sooner than later.
Just because Moto is the first with this quick "flagship" turnaround, doesn't mean other won't be doing it soon. I think we're seeing a severe reduction in the time between flagship phones.

+1000
Also why are you even here "contributing" to this thread, jojocal? You don't even have a bionic so you're literally doing nothing but stir the pot and try to tick off some bionic owners. Thankfully there are enough reasonably intelligent, rational people here to understand how the world works and be able to be happy with their great phone without panicking every time a new thing comes out.

I do have a bionic, just havent updated my devices yet.

Ummmm no. They led a marketing campaign that championed this device as their flagship. It was tantamount to a blatant lie. Name me one other manufacturer/carrier that have replaced a flagship device so quickly. The Bionic was marketed to "rule all" and now has been relegated to bench duty. Again, I'm not going to walk you through obvious inferences that were drawn from their marketing that, for obvious reasons, you are choosing to ignore.

I thought this was the bionic forum? I love my bionic, sure the razr looks nice but then what after that?!?! Like a few have said before, there is always something better around the corner... we should be happy with what we got. Yea my bionic has a few bugs but so has my previous phones.

It's 1780, actually (so, not much more than the Bionic's). It's also not removable, so a pulling battery option is out of the question. My last phone needed a new battery after about 16 months of use - it was holding about two thirds of its original capacity.

Some of the better battery life numbers are due to some tweaking in software that will change some settings, which presumably could be in a future Bionic update. I do agree that the LTE radio may be a dramatic difference, though we'll see when it's tested.

Also, while quite a bit thinner, the Razr is also longer and wider than the Bionic.

There are some things that people may prefer in the Bionic.

And the reason that the devices are so close is that the Bionic had to be redesigned from scratch. Motorola and VZW would have been dumb to dump the Bionic and lose two months of sales of such a good handset, and equally dumb to hold back the Razr just to make Bionic buyers feel better. These things happen sometimes - the Bionic is still a great phone.

hmmm...if it's longer and wider than the bionic, my wife may not want it after all. also, I'm not too keen on non-removable batteries; sounds like Moto is taking a page from the Apple playbook.

No, actually the SGS2 is NOT as good in direct sunlight, as the Bionic. I put them side by side in bright sun and cranked them both to max brightness. The Bionic was the CLEAR and OBVIOUS winner. I wouldn't make that up!

with all these new Android phones, PLUS the release of ICS right around the corner, I think Android OS is going to keep on increasing it's OS lead over Apple, even when the next Jesus phone model hits. They (Apple) are never going to relinquish control, allow Flash or removable batteries, or much customization. The public has spoken already--they like Androids and lack of iron-fisted control that is Jobs' legacy. (despite the many millions of sales that Apple enjoys. but they have just one model to sell, along with last years model). If you went into battle would you want one troop, or many troops? :)

I'm not trying to start anything and, I'm glad you're happy with your device however, I owned a Nexus S that has a Amoled screen and, it was better in direct sunlight than any phone I've had, including the Bionic.

I never said anyone made anything up. I don't understand why some of you guys get so testy on here when talking about phones. Being able to view the phone in direct sunlight is one of the advantages of the Amoled screen, this is something I've always heard and read.

did u not see that I specified the sammy GS2?? i didn't say anything about any other model. it is noticeably dimmer/difficult to see in direct sun. fact. I can't comment on your phone.

Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to screens. I have never seen a problem with the Bionics.

It's nice that the RAZR is thin but it is a bit ugly. That big MOTOROLA right at the top is nasty.

And I have a feeling you will be seeing a ton of locked up complaints when it comes out - you don't make an android phone without being able to pull the battery.

Also we don't know what's "missing" from the RAZR yet. Does it vibrate? They had to take stuff out to get it that thin.

I have the extended battery Bionic and I love it.

Would I want a RAZR - I'd want the ability to choose. I do consider it to be a dick move by Verizon and Motorola to not give me the choice.

I think I prefer the camera-bump at the top, rather than the bottom, as on the RAZR. that's one thing I can be thankful for on the Bionic. (hey, I've got to find some positive features, so as not to be bummed out if my wife swaps her Bionic for the RAZR. :) )

having said that, I just (DUH!) realized what with the extended battery, the camera is the thinnest part. LOL!

Yeah but, in my original statement that you responded to, I wasn't referring to you or anyone else specific. I heard other people on this forum, in different sections say that the Amoled screen was not good in sunlight. From my understanding and experience - with the Nexus S - that is not a correct statement, at least not for all Amoled screens.

I've never seen the Galaxy S2 so, I can't speak on your experience either. One of the things I wanted to see about the Bionic is how it was in sunlight, since I had heard it was good, from posters on here. The Bionic is good in the sunlight but, compared to the Nexus S, their is no comparison IMO.

That's one of the things that amazed me about the Nexus S. If you ever get a chance, check it out. You can pretty much see everything with no problem at all. On the Bionic, which was good; I still had to strain a little, in direct sunlight; to see everything and operate the phone. However the technology they use in the Bionic is definitely improved over past models, with that type of screen.
