We got pwned by the RAZR!!

I'm not sure I buy your argument that Moto phones are more unfinished than any other mfgrs. Every smartphone is going to have teething problems. You are wasting your energy (IMO) in being frustrated that cell phones aren't "superior products that work correctly". they are obviously complex in nature and therefore will have their individual issues.

I understand that some, if not most phones, come out with some issues. Even iPhones have them. *GASP* And I'm fine with that. I just mean the rather large issues that lead me to believe Moto pushes out unfinished products - especially when the Bionic was 9 months late and still arrived with a plethora of problems. The network issue with the Bionic (athough may be a Verizon problem - but is there nonetheless), the blue picture tint on the D3's (and yes, I know it's a phone, not a camera, but that's still a glaring issue), those are things that should be wrapped up before shipping.

And my argument primarily stems to Moto because: A) this is a Bionic thread talking about the Razr; and B) I've had a Droid X, Droid 3, and a Bionic. All of the major Android players spread themselves too thin, IMHO.

And yes, these manufacturers can put out better products, maybe not "perfect", but still better. I'm simply asking for them to do so.

OMG I had to create an account to say something. No one is against innovation Dave this is just a super shady move by Motorola. This is like if Apple released the Iphone 4 talking about how boss it was then a month and a half later the Iphone 4s. Pretty much the same phone but better in every respect. How do you think Apple customers would react? I don't want to hear about the non removable battery on the Droid Razr. Have you ever heard websites talk about that when reviewing the Iphone? I waited on getting a new phone all year because I thought this Bionic would atleast be the best Motorola phone through the end of the year. For them to release the same phone with better specs so soon is bold. Stuff like this makes me want to switch to the Iphone because atleast you'll have universal OS updates and you don't have to worry about a better phone coming out next month from the same company.

:) Don't blow a gasket. LOL! Go ahead and switch to the Jesus phone if you don't like Flash, and don't mind iron-fisted control or slow product cycles. Go for it. I don't care which phone you own, any more than you care which one I have. Cheers.

The Bionic was not 9 months late - it was, at most, five months late.

It was announced at CES in January as being available "early second quarter." If you look at the phone that they showed at CES, it was completely redesigned - new processor in particular. In fact, I believe that it was going to be a Tegra2 processor like the X2, but, because of the delay, it ended up being a better OMAP processor.

This is one time that Moto is late with a phone. The Bionic was better for having been late. Which would have been better - Motorola completely dumping the Bionic at all? Wasting all that R&D for no sales? Delaying the Razr? Why would they do that?

How many Android phones have been shipped from any manufacturer that didn't require a software update in order to fix bugs?

If this is your concern, you may be better off *not* buying the latest and greatest phone until a few months have passed, in order to allow for the bugs to be fixed. This means, of course, that you should not be all that displeased about not waiting for the Razr, as you'd have to wait until January or February before you bought it.

You make many valid points. But still missing my overall point, and yes I have made some exaggerations in my posts, but only to show my distaste with the situation. Yes the Bionic was better for being late, but it was still very far from perfect. And then only two short months later they release a phone, similar to the Bionic, yet better in every aspect (some will disagree that it isn't better simply because it has a lack of a removable battery - but that's a non-issue for me).

Your post to me, while makes sense, defends the corporation for not putting the consumer first. Yes I know companies do this every single day. But I'm arguing on behalf of the consumer. To pull s*** like this, to me, is to let the consumers know that they care not one single iota about those that buy their products. But to put out an unfinished product that they claim to be the end all (TO RULE ALL MACHINES) to only trump it THEMSELVES only a month later - being that the Razr was announced roughly one month after the Bionic was released - is ridiculous in my mind.

So I'm not saying anything about having the latest and greatest - I'm using an iPhone 4, hardly the latest and greatest - all I'm asking, and arguing, is that the main Android players work more to produce a few great products, rather than saturate the market with one kick-a** product, and a few mediocre ones. As a consumer, I honestly don't think that's really too much to ask.

And I most likely won't be buying a Razr, simply because I'm on contract, and unless I can get a great deal a few months after it's released. :D

Frankly, I don't feel that we got pwned at all. I have researched what is available, and depending on the accuracy of the specs, don't believe that it is much of an "upgrade" from the Bionic.

Sure it may have an amoled screen and .2 ghz faster processor, and usb/hdmi ports on top of the phone but is that really something I need? My answer is "no." For others it may be the phone of their dreams.

Not having the option to pull the battery, having ports awkwardly placed at the top of the phone, and the minimal upgrade in the processor would not be my choice. I just did buy the Bionic and had a choice to wait and did not because there is so LITTLE difference in the two devices.

So, yeah the Bionic took a while to get to market, but IMO Motorola is taking a huge risk that the RAZR is going to outsell the Bionic and the 4S with minimal differences.

If the Razr drops its Full bars 3g connection as often as my bionic does (every other day) then everyone is getting pwned! I really wish I returned this phone and kept my POS Storm 2 that was reliable.

I'm an engineer.
Throughout my career, companies I have worked for have dumped man project in the can.
It's not new. it's not strange. It happens all the time.

Motorola could have scrapped the Bionic and kept the Razr. Or released one and announced the other. At least customers would have been given a choice. It would not be an issue if the Razr had a smaller screen, keyboard, no front facing camera, etc. The fact the device is almost identical with a slightly faster processor and most definitely better camera software is a big deal.

Also my Bionic has a whine in the audio output. I tried several others and they all had it, some worse.
That won't be a software fix, and it's definitely a problem. They claim, the will fix it in software in Nov. I'll tie them a chance, but if it isn't fixed want a new phone.

Moto screwed up.

Of course have all heard about the the Razr coming early next month and it does look pretty sweet. I just got my Bionic in September and it looks like with the announcement of the Ice Cream Ios coming to Razr before any other phone that Moto has already forgotten about the Bionic in less then two month just like they did with the OG droid. I am currently shopping around to get rid of my Bionic just so that I can get the new Razr since I think this is phone that Moto will be concentrating on for a little while. My question is why did Moto wait for so long for the Bionic to come out and then turn around in less then two months and bring out a better phone? Why not scrap the Bionic and come out with the Razr?

Personally I like that the manufacturers put out so many different phones within a short period of time. It gives "the consumer" more choices, & brings competition to the overall cellphone market, thus making it a great thing! (unlike that fruit company that only offers you one option & one option only which is a, "take what we give you and like it" option) And while I agree that manufacturers could take a little longer and release a more "polished" product, I also think, if the consumer doesn't completely do their homework before purchasing said device, it's on them and them alone. Everyone should have known the Bionic was garbage before they even bought it, if not within the first week of buying it, thus giving them plenty of time to return it for a different make/model.
Android isn't the top OS in the world by accident. It's a superior product with far superior options, flavors & price points. Don't purchase a smartphone because it's the latest & greatest from any particular manufacturer. Purchase a smartphone that you've spent time with in the store, compared and reviewed against other similar phones, and most importantly, one that fits your personal needs. You'll never be unhappy with your purchase that way because the manufacturers give us so many choices. Plus, you'll never have the "latest & greatest" for very long in the Android world as there will always a better device on the market within 4-6 months. But if you learn to root, overclock & undervolt, you will get a lot more life out of your purchase by being ahead of those with the same "stock" device.

Are you kidding? The razor hasn't even come out yet and you think it is that much superior to the bionic? That is a pretty lame statement to make not even knowing what problems the Razr will have at release. My bionic has had zero issues since I got 4g two Weeks ago.
One thing I know for sure is my bionic will have far better battery with my extended battery. I bet my bionic on it.

This is all hilarious. How many of you want to trade your wives/girlfriends in every time someone better looking comes along?

While anything with ICS is a temptation, I am reasonably certain it will come to the Bionic. Meanwhile, there is little else compelling enough to cause me to lust after another device. The Razr may be thin, yes, but at the price of a non-interchangeable battery? Nope, that's an absolute deal breaker for me.

There are other specs on both the Razr and Nexus that leave me feeling quite content with my Bionic. I am hoping for ICS though.

As far as I know, Motorola and Verizon have made no such announcement about the Razr getting ICS before the Bionic. The motorola twitter account (and I think Facebook as well) announced that both would get ICS and they would announce timing shortly after Google releases ICS officially (which will be shortly after the Nexus is launched.)

Right when the twitter for moto said a limited time frame for ICS it was clear as day that it was the razr and bionic within a 6 week window (if i read it right) not just razr. To me this says hey there's nothing outside of body, screen and battery that makes the razr any different from the bionic.

Hasn't it been found out already that the Razr is running the same processor as the bionic just factory overclocked?

To me this makes the penny i paid for the bionic a hell of a deal and in no way makes me want to give up the 299.99 bucks more for a sidegrade Razr or screen to the heavens that i don't have the latest and greatest because of the simple fact the Razr is a redone bionic. Granted a nicely done version but i have had 4 phones in the past and i've had to battery pulls on them all and it makes me think why the Razr would be any different in freezing up.

Well I get almost every smartphone that come out so really this os not big deal for me ....but not being selfish really sucks that people who depend of their upgrade waste it when a new and maybe better phone come out less than 2 months later
Sorry my english

Are you male?

Is this a serious question?
