Weather Apps?

Im a huge weather geek....these are the most accurate as far as information being updated and passed on:

DarkSky-Notificatuon temp icon and notifications for precipitation times.

Storm Radar-. Good overall app for everything.

Weather Radio- Best/Most accurate storm alerts

Radarscope- The best most accurate radar in the mobile world.

Please see screen shot of what the apps look like when searching for them.

Hope this helps! Good luck, there is alot out there.//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180630/c1c63d2b5a49085b0ce4795da170a54d.jpg

Which weather radio app are you recommending? There are many. Developer name? Thanks

For widgets, nothing beats Chronus. It has a variety of widget options, ability to update manually, adjust transparency, update only on WiFi, and excellent support. It also has many options for weather services. What it lacks is its own detailed weather app, but I use its Dark Sky or Weather Underground option and use the calendar or clock hotspot to link directly to that app for more details.

Thank you so much for the widget recommendation! I'm enjoying Weather Underground so far so perhaps this widget will complement it nicely.

Now that Dark Sky notifications are working again on my Pixel 2 XL, I use this, RadarScope and Google's "Weather" the most.

I use Weather Underground for my casual weather app. It has a clean interface and the app design is simple to use.

I use Radarscope for my hardcore radar needs. I work outside and it's important for me to know when there are lightning strikes and the storm tracking lets me know exactly where the storm is heading. The radar also shows rotations so I know if there's a potential funnel cloud in the area.

The reviews I'm reading about Radarscope say that you pay the $9.99 fee and then they want you to pay more to get the features they advertise. If I'm paying $10 for a weather app I shouldn't have to pay for the features that they advertise and make you think you are getting for the $10.

I agree with this. I use Radarscope and I was a bit miffed that I had to pay extra to get lightning data.

It all depends on how much and what features you will use. Are you an avid radar user when it comes to storms? If not and you just want the most accurate radar then just pay the $10 for the app. But, if you are and you want more features, (lightning, inspector tool to read intensities within storms and a few other things), then pay the extra $10. Keep in mind the extra $10(teir 1) is yearly. There is also a teir 2 that costs monthly, but in my opinion is for people that are really crazy involved or meteorologist. Hope that helps, and trust me whatever route you go, radarscope is the best and is well worth the $10 you pay for the app.

I thought the same thing but after I purchased the extras and realized that I use it alot....it's worth the $.83($10 yearly) if broken down monthly!

I used to use Weather Bug Elite too but the app developers no longer support landscape. I remember when I first bought Elite and it was originally targeted for tablet users. Then they pulled Elite from the Play store. After some resentment, they restored Elite but did not support landscape.

It's 2018 and we aren't married to Blackberry OS (I used it way back when). Why would I have bought a smartphone that natively supports landscape orientation to load non-landscape apps?

Google Assistant. Price: Free.

Yeah I used Weather Bug Elite that long as well.
I remember when they stopped supporting the Elite version(pulled it). I stopped using it then.
When they Finally resumed with the WB Elite I started using it again.

Landscape mode is nice but not a deal bricker just for that reason for me.

Still its my preferred weather app . I have used all the main ones at some point in time.

Radar Now Prem. is my main "stand alone radar" . It supports landscape mode.
I have been using it a long time as well

I agree wholeheartedly! If you care about "real-time" data, it doesn't get any better than this!

Thanks for that. Rated a bit under 4 stars but all weather radio apps seem to be. I'll give 'er a try ! EDIT: Last updated 2016. That gives one pause now that we're at Oreo OS.

You couldn't be referring to Radarscope as its rated at 4.6 stars and was last updated June 13, 2018.

I'm still really enjoying Weather Underground. It packs a lot of useful information into one page! I like that. And it gives me the pollen report, which is really handy for me because for the first time, I seem to have mind seasonal allergies! 🤣

The most useful thing about Weather Underground is its huge network of personal weather stations. When you are looking at your local weather it is pulling data from the local weather stations close to you.

That's amazing! I noticed that it pinpointed my exact location (I live in a small town within a city; and so it actually pinpointed my location to that small town). Impressive!
