Weird Auto brightness Issue

I was just wondering if anyone else has the same thing happening to their phones as I do. I have my phone on autobrightness most of the time and sometimes all of sudden my screen will go really dim even though autobrightness is still switched on and I will have to turn it off then turn it back on again to get the auto brightness working again. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or am I the only one?

Both myself and my work colleague have this problem, sometimes it gets stuck really bright and we have to toggle the switch, I can only assume it's a software issue.

This happens to me also, but only after using vlc media player.
