Weird/Awesome Verizon call

I want to take advantage of this deal but i'm not sure how.

I'm with AT&T right now contract ended a couple days ago so I bought a new Verizon plan along with a couple Rezzound's for a penny on Sunday. However, I got the 4gb data plan (2 of which are free) and the phones were back-ordered until the middle of December.

So can I preemptively call Verizon and ask them to add the unlimited mobile hotspot and receive the unlimited data plan as well? I ordered though Amazon so all I have is their order number.

Can anyone find out how long this deal is going to last in case it can't be done?

As long as the lines are on your account, you should be able to add the mobile hotspot. Call and try.

While I think this is a cool offer, if they offer it to me I think I will decline.
My RoadRunner service is only $33/month (unlimited) and I don't have to leave my device at home for the home computers to use the connection.
I hope I don't end up regretting it, but I don't think that I will.
When not at home, I don't use desktops/laptops, just my phone. That's the whole point of the smartphone to me.
In fact, I'm hoping to trim my conventional computing down and rely more only on the mobile device.

Just got off the phone with VZW for activation.
I asked about this 4g mobile hotspot unlimited plan.
It's only available to existing customers with current unlimited 3g data plans.
Described as a "bolt-on" feature that can be added/removed at any time (i.e. as the need arises/ebbs) and does not have to be maintained monthly.

So, in my case maybe if traveling or otherwise out of home for an extended period.

I just got off the phone with Verizon as well, My first problem is they cant do anything until I get the phones and activate them (Dec 14-30). They did say I can add the unlimited mobile hotspot for $30, but denied that I could get unlimited phone data unless I was grandfathered in.

She said the unlimited MHS was a promotion that just recently started. So I can only hope that it is still available when I get my phones activated.

I work in remote Alaska and no WiFi is available so I will be using Tether like crazy.

Instead of taking the time to argue that other people have gotten this deal I just asked her to add the feature and see what happens. Sure enough it changed my data plan from 10GB to unlimited. Now I'm paying $60 for unlimited with hotspot as opposed to $50 for 10GB with no hotspot.

So am I reading correctly that a hotspot is needed in order to get unlimited phone data? Can I add a hotspot and cancel it and maintain unlimited data on my phone?

My turn. First of all thanks Dewayne for the update. I just got of the phone with verizon and not only did they give me unlimited mobile hotspot for $30, they knocked off $9.99 on two of my lines for a year. So I only pay $10 extra monthly for unlimited mobile hotspot.

Rezound - $10 unlimited hot spot and minus $9.99 on the line.
iphone4s - minus $9.99 on the line.
2 ipads with 3g data.

Im not sure they are able to do this promotion, but Im not complaining! Thanks again bro.

That's correct the rep didn't do anything and was actually surprise when it changed to the $30 unlimited data plan after she addied on the hotspot. I'm not sure if it will revert back to my old 10gb data plan if the hotspot is canceled.

Yes. You can remove the hotspot after and still have the 30 unlimited data feature. Theres a thread in the verizon section of these forums where others and myself tried this.

I think some people here are asking for unlimited, i thnk its best to say can i add the 30 mobile hotspot feature which will lead you to unlimited data if they okay it. From responses on this section and the verizon section, the csrs know what there about todo and still do it.

Vzwrocks thinks its a glitch. It just might be, so try before its noticed and taken care of.

Just worked for me on 4 lines...thanks for the tip! Unlimited data for $0.01 less? Don't mind if I do!

Like I mentioned in the main thread, the CSR explained to me that the $30 4GB double data promo code is conflicting with the $30 mobile hotspot code. The only way they can add the hotspot is to change you to $29.99 unlimited. Our gain!

The CSR just told me that their supervisor knows about overriding and giving me unlimited because of it.

Unfortunately, I fly from TN to Alaska for 3 weeks on the 5th. I guess I will just have my wife mail it up to me. I think I will do the MHS as soon as she gets them though and pray it still works.

Listed as "In Stock" on Amazon Wireless. It was back-order only a couple of hours ago so it should ship today or Monday.

Just tried this. Was denied. The rep told me that I need at least 6 months of service in order to get the unlimited MHS plan. I will have to try again.

That doesn't make any sense.it seems that either they caught on to what everyone was doing or it is dependent on the rep you talk to.
