AC Question

Something that has been annoying me for a long time is this problem. I like to watch videos and when my battery is low, I plug my phone in, but the video pauses when I do. The same pause problem happens when I disconnect the charger. With the new YouTube update I can see the 3 suggested videos on the bottom of the screen in landscape mode flash for a second. The reason why I'm posting this is because, I've noticed when I'm playing a game, the audio skips and gets low for a second when plugging in. If I'm rotating the phone when I plug in the charger the screen flashes black for a split second, leading me to belive it's more than just a software problem. Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I don't really see a problem, I would expect that to happen. You're changing the state of the phone from battery to charge, or vice versa, and that forces the phone to react.

My phone doesn't change the status of anything when I plug or unplug as it shouldn't.

I can't agree. If I plug my S8 in, I get the charging message, the batt icon changes, and I'm sure a few processes are going to change. Same with either of my laptops.

Of course you get the charging message and any related changes. I'm referring to the OP stated that it caused changes in status to running apps.

I've tried this on my phone and the video doesn't pause when plugged in, it's a different model though. I wonder if it could be related to any notification you enabled when the phone is charging. Just in case, go to your notification settings and see if you can find this option (in my phone is under settings - sounds & notifications - other sounds - charging sounds).

Have you tried it in safe mode to rule out any third party app causing havoc in the background?

Well I didn't expect this. It actually doesn't pause on safe mode. If I have power saving enabled it only lags for a second before continuing. If I don't have power saving on, it doesn't stop. I knew I wasn't going crazy :P

Weird, probably some conflict with a third party app. Some apps have included recently new battery/charging options. Do you have ES File Explorer or any app by Cheetah Mobile, DU or GO installed in your phone?

I'm positive I don't have any of those installed on my phone.
The only battery related app is Greenity I have running. Although I can't see why it would cause this.

Alright if anyone was wondering I found the problem. Since Safe Mode disables loading of third party apps, I decided to go one by one and force stops apps I had installed. The problematic app turned out to be: Alarmy...
Yeah I'm just as suprised as you are, if not more. An alarm clock app causing this mayham. Who would have thought.

So weird! Glad you managed to find the culprit and thanks for the follow up. It will be very helpful for other users with a similar issue.
