hi. newb here. i searched for this but found no resolution.

after installing 2.2, some of my email settings switched. one issue i have that happened is this: my emails erase off my phone once i log into ms outlook and get my mail (comcast). this did not happen before 2.2. my phone used to save the last month worth of emails even if i would log in to outlook and retrieve them. this has to be a setting issue, but i've tried every permutation of settings possible and nothing has worked. can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong????

Taking a shot in the dark here but we will see. I think it's because you are using the IMAP comcast email. Which merely sync's with the mail server etc. But you are using pop3 in outlook and when it downloads the messages it takes them off the server. Easy fix is to configure outlook for imap access instead of pop3. Or tell it in the pop3 setting in outlook to leave a copy of the message on the server etc.

I have the same issue, before 2.2 messages would stay on the phone until I deleted them from the phone, even if I had downloaded and removed them from the server.

Since the 2.2 OTA update, once they delete from the server, they also delete from the phone...

I'm guessing it's something in the sync as opposed to the email settings but I haven't found anything yet to change it. I'm also using just Outlook with POP3 accounts, no exchange server.

When you use a pop3 server, unless in the settings you have it defined for the account, it downloads and removes the messages from the server when checked with outlook. I would suggest seeing if your ISP support IMAP and fiddle with your settings.

Qazme, I understand what you are saying but I still think it's something new/different with Froyo. The emails used to stay on the phone before the OTA update and it did the same thing on either of the Palm's I had before the DINC. That's why I'm thinking it's something with either sync or the email app.

As far as I know nothing in the email stuff has changed from 2.1 - 2.2. The only change was moving Gmail up one revision. Which you aren't using the Gmail app apparently.

So which app are you using to check your email? Email, Gmail, K-9 etc. What settings are you using inside that app? Did you manually configure the protocol etc. Are you using POP3, IMAP, etc. When you say it deletes from your phone do you mean on a refresh or instantly? Give some more details and I'm sure something will click here or someone smarter than I will come along. ;)

I'm using the email widget that was on the home screen when I got the phone so I'm ASSuming it's from HTC? I'm using POP3 accounts and they were configured manually. General settings has refresh on open checked. Delete mail on server is not checked. It is set to check every 15 minutes. If I receive an email on the phone and do not delete it, it stays on the phone until I open Outlook which then deletes it from the server. The next time the phone checks the server, the messages disappear from the phone.

Before the 2.2 OTA upgrade, the messages would stay on the phone until I deleted them on the phone. Nothing has changed in the email server.

I'm having the same issue. My two pop3 accounts (work & home) delete emails on my phone. I made sure Outlook is set to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." It is also set to "remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items." Before the 2.2 upgrade I never had a problem.

Tonight I opened my home email account on my computer for the first time in a week. Later, when I opened my home account on the Incredible all of the emails I previously deleted came back and were marked as unread.

Another thing I've noticed is that the Incredible doesn't retain all email settings. It changed the download options from 3 days to 200 messages. It also dropped my signature on my work account.

Any help is much appreciated.

No help, huh? This is disappointing. I tried the email app, K-9, and it does the same thing. I wish I would never have purchased this phone... If anyone has any help I would love to hear it.

I have my outlook express email(popserver) synced with gmail . I dont have gmail synced to my phone since its just a repeat email event from my outlook express.I have the outlook express popserver mail synced with my phone.

I do have my popmail set to delete off the server tho. I delete that after I read it .Since I dont sync gmail on my phone the same email is in my gmail from desktop ,basically a copy saved there until I delete it from a desktop or laptop computer .:) But thats how I fixed that issue .

Same issue here. HTC told me that was the way it was suppose to work so they changed it for 2.2. As far as I am concerned that is totally unacceptable. They should not delete emails from my phone, that is my job. I switched to K9 and unlike a previous poster it works for me. My emails now stay on my phone until I tell them to be deleted.

Finally some confirmation that there actually is a problem...

We are actually aware of this POP3 behaivior on the Incredible 2.2. We will be correcting this in a future update to the phone. I apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced.

Sincerely,

Kimberly

After loading the K-9 app and it doing the same thing I was instructed by another K-9 user to delete my Droid email accounts. I did so but it didn't seem to matter, so I reloaded my work email back into the stock Droid email app. The Droid email still loses emails but the K-9 doesn't! I did shutdown the phone and remove the battery after I re-installed my work email into the Droid email app. I don't reallly know why it's working now in K-9, but all my email accounts work perfectly now in the K-9 app.
