Re: Welcome to the Samsung Epic 4G! Please introduce yourselves h

Hi, I'm Jeff. I have the epic and I LOVE IT, even though I've only had it for 2 weeks, but the battery is working really well (2 days when I don't have to make long calls, or if I'm only texting). Also, I had a quick question:

I came from a curve that let my alarms turn the phone back on in the morning if I turned it off at night. Is there a way to do this on my droid?

Also, I have the basic twitter widget that came with my phone, but I can't seem to tag anyone (as in, there isn't a drop down list for me to click on my followers' names). Does anyone know how to do this or is anybody using a better twitter app?

Thanks for any help!

Hi! I'm new here. :) I've been using a Palm Pre and just got the 4g Touch. The phone is great. Could someone help with getting my Task List" and "memos" over to the 4g?

You're in the wrong forum ;) , this is the epic 4g forum, the Epic 4G Touch is a completely different phone

Welcome to Android Central and congrats on your Epic Touch.

You however posted in the Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4g forums, common mistake given Samsung using similar names between the new and older Epic's. I'll move your intro post over to the proper forum.

Sprint Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch

Welcome and enjoy :)

new guy on the block ..... hey everyone

It's been a great experience with my first Android phone in the Epic 4G. Great phone overall IMO but made better with all of the great people in this forum, Paul627g especially.

Last week I decided the new Nexus was for me and I will say that if you're running CM9 on your Epic you are getting a pretty damn good Android ICS experience based on what the Nexus offers.

As for the Nexus I am very happy, I was going to get the Evo 4G LTE cause the better processor and camera but my Epic started acting stupid, I got tired of it and the Nexus happened to just come out.

Really it was the phone I wanted all along until the Evo was announced. I was still in a toss up between the 2 devices as they both offer things that are good over the other. Either way I don't think you can go wrong. The new Nexus is Android how I've come to like it because of the Cyanogenmod team. Touchwiz had some nice things on my Epic but I never missed anything when I went to CM7 and the CM9. I've never used sense so I don't know what I'm missing or gaining but I've found pure Android can be setup however you like with the Play Store and purchasing the apps you actually want and not being stuck with what you don't.

I've found the camera to be good, probably better than the Epic which I thought was acceptable for most any need as a camera phone. The no lag shutter is cool as it takes pics much faster than before. I'm not really sure why a lot of people dislike the Nexus camera, maybe it was a Verizon 4.02 rom issue. Or maybe my expectations are lower than most.

I think I'm staying away from the hacking on this phone too. Everything works just how I want and I know from my Epic, hacking it means sometimes things just don't work. To be fair sometimes Sprint / Samsung were the ones to break something too like GPS connections.

I hope all of you get all you can out of your Epics before you upgrade. If you're waiting for a slider I hope a GS3 version comes out for ya. If you're thinking Nexus the larger screen is really good for typing and I'm not missing the slider portion at all.

Hello all,

I'm Doug. I've been a computer user for over 40 years - but a smart phone user for only two weeks! I have a bunch of questions and a strong desire to learn as much as I can, so I'm excited to have found this forum! Eventually, I hope to be at a point where I can help others on this forum occasionally.

Again, thanks to all.

Re: Welcome to the Samsung Epic 4G! Please introduce yourselves h

Hey all. Im Chris. Ive been on this site for quite some time. But I dont come in here very often because the last forum I was in I was given a load of crap for being so uneducated about rooting/ROMS and basic stuff about my LG Optimus S. But ive inherited an epic 4g from the wife because she upgraded last month, so Im still tryingto figure it out. One of the first things I did though, was root and at the moment Im still looking for a decent ROM. Ive tried at least 4 in the past month or so and I just cant find one that fits. So here I am, back for more abuse LOL I ask some REALLY stupid questions sometimes, but thats because Im still learning and a total n00b hehe. So dont give me any when I ask a question that your grandma probably couldve answered. And another thing, I apologize about the red and such big font, but Im sight impaired and it helps me a. find my posts and b.It helps me stand out as the fool who doesnt know crap about anything ;P it's nice to be in a different group that hopefully will be different. Thanks for putting up with me so far LOL
Thanks
Ridge

Signed up here ages ago and never really participated much (slaps self on wrist). Have been with Sprint since so long ago I can't remember (in the 90s sometime). I'm a former Navy Cryptologic Technician, Computer Programmer and cross country tractor-trailer driver now "involuntarily retired" (disabled). I've had an Epic 4G for a while now and am thinking about upgrading to the SIII (when I can afford it). In the meantime, I'm about to give CM9 RC1 a go and see how much damage I can do with it :D Thanks for all the excellent work on the site and keeping track of all the great toys!

I'm pretty much just a dude that's taken up "Droiding" as a hobby. Originally started out jail breaking fruit but have sense realized the greatness that is Android. Within the last few months I've rooted a couple Epic 4G, Motorola XPRT, and LG Optimus S. Still learning my way around and have always enjoyed a challenge. Looking forward to more updates, mods, and shortcuts. It's the minds of the people like in these forums that can mold and create a future for the youth to run with. Mainly I'm here to learn and to spread the word.

Hey everyone. I have been on droid phones since my moto droid running 1.5. Seems like a lifetime ago. I have seen 1.5, 1.6, eclair, froyo, gingerbread and am happy to have a samsung epic on ics thanks to cyanomod and their beastly CM9.

Hello Everybody,
Been on the forum for a while but just realized I should have posted here first. Awesome site and community. Thanks to all the propeller heads that have provided free tech support. I use my full QWERTY Epic 4G as a super portable laptop. I love how I can access all my laptop based work docs on my Epic 4G via Carbonite backup and am pining for another high end Samsung QWERTY. I'm getting ready to make the CM9 RCn jump to extend the life of my Epic 4G thanks to all the techies here. I'm surrounding by iPhone iD__ts that are always intrigued by what I can do on my bigger screen and customized interfaces and Google Apps (Translate, voice search, etc.) but then always say Apple is better -- at the same time they're tethered to a wall outlet or portable charging brick. They're always swiping my phone to play games on its larger screen. It's nice to converse with a community of intelligent independent thinkers. Funny. Apple's 1984 ad applies to the iFans of today.

Hey guys I am not sure if I'm doing this right or not but here goes nothing I just recently received an epic phone or so I'm told. . Ohh yeah the name is Stixx and I don't know nothing about nothing so please bare with me I need help bad!!+!
