Well guys after all the love and frustration

I did a factory reset only to still have issues. I got the Thunderbolt Aug 30th. Seems every new device I have is problematic. Really frustrating. I did all I could but the issues are just too much. I called Verizon and will have the replacement on Tuesday. Hope this one will be OK. I love this phone. I had hoped it would last longer. LOL
Not even a month. Like a bad relationship.....

Maybe your replacement will come with GB on it. :)

Of all the people to have had a bad experience with hardware!! LOL. Hope your new one is better. I've never had any of the issues so many have cried about here for so long with mine even after a couple of rather severe "impact tests" where I was sure I was going to retrieve a brick or a messed up screen at least when I picked it up off thr ground. Never a reboot, or GPS lock problem, or call quality, etc issue ever. I've deleted Watchdog, GPS Status and a few other apps I have deemed unnecessary on my Stock MR2 device because, quite simply, I don't need them.

You are very rude

I do have privacy plus but I never experienced this on my Incredible. I click on the call button. It doesn't react and activate a call. I don't know how else to explain it. Tap on it nothing happens. I hate getting a replacement. Hopefully it will be fine.

Sounds like maybe it was a radio issue, not necessarily a defect with the phone. I know different locations got terrible reboots while others didn't. Hopefully you didn't trade away a good phone for a garbage refurbished one and go on the 5 phone journey some people are on now.

I hope the refurbish wont be bad. This still is acting up. If it is they will just have to replace it. I love this phone. No other options!

My concern is a bad replacement. Then I will be even more mad.?

I have decided to refuse the refurbished device. I have read that one person has had 4 and they have been crap. Since the reset, Sunday was decent with the phone. I haven't had it a complete month and it makes me nervous. I have had to replace my other devices. I am going to wait till after Gingerbread update and see what happens. I have also removed some applications. I don't know if they have caused a problem but I need to make sure before I do this. I have a new phone and damn, I don't want to deal with another. I emailed Verizon and told them if it was going to be a NEW replacement, I would be more inclined. I told them I will wait and see what happens with the update. My brother talked me out of it saying to give the update a chance. I can be swayed these days LOL. I really like this phone. A lot and if the tweaks will be fixed with the update then I will be happy. I am a Gemini LOL usually am not fickle but I really hate the idea of a refurb on a phone I just got. That doesn't fly with me.:-\

I had to replace my phone six times to finally get one that works. I am not having any problems and the phone is working great now.

Not sure what all the fuss is about with Gingerbread, now that my phone is working.

You may not have a choice to refuse a refurb.

At the risk of being too elementary, I've been in these forums since even before the TB release and I've never heard of this complaint. And, now, you've had it on two successive phones...

Are there any prior calls in your call history when you do this? Hitting the call button is supposed to either, dial the number you just manually entered yourself (in the correct format -- 1234567890), or, dial the most recent number in your call history listing (unless it includes extraneous numbers -- like typed in PIN numbers, etc.). If either of these values are blank, or the incorrect format, it would probably "not react" when you hit the call button, since there is no valid number to dial.

Perhaps you could describe exactly what sequential steps you are going through to result in "no reaction". Also, is "assisted dialing" on or off? It is on by default, and set to "United States of America (310). Menu | Settings | Call | Assisted Dialing... I have no idea what the 310 means -- it isn't an area code, but that's how mine was by default. Check that.

It seems these days you hold your breath when getting a gadget - will it work? How many times will I have to get replacements? Will 14 days be enough to find out if it's spunking out on me?

Kind of takes the fun out of getting a new phone. :-\

I guess I am not explaining clearly. I am at the green call button. I tap on it just like tapping on a space bar. Nothing happens as if frozen.
I don't know how to really explain it. Nothing is set incorrectly.

This issue never happened on the incredible. I have had privacy plus for over two years!

My very first smartphone was a Blackberry Curve 83xx. I was all set to buy the Verizon model, then found out that Verizon had intentionally blocked the GPS from being used for any application but "TeleNav". I had to discover this little gem on online forums, because the ad print clearly stated that the phone had a GPS, and when I called and asked Verizon flat-out if the GPS worked with Google Maps and other third-party applications I was told "yes". I very nearly ordered the phone, re-read the problem descriptions, and called Verizon back and had (paraphrased) the following exchange:

Me: "So, I called the other day and asked this question, and wanted to confirm it. I'm considering purchasing a Blackberry 8300 from you folks, and it has a GPS, and I was told that the GPS works with Google Maps and other third-party applications."
VZ Rep: "Correct, the GPS works with all applications."
Me: "So I could install, say, Google Maps, and the GPS would work with it?"
VZ Rep: "Absolutely. It will work just fine."
Me: "So within a few minutes, the little dot will tell me where I am, and I can use it to track my location on the little dot as I drive around?"
VZ Rep: "No. Sorry. You'll need TeleNav for that, it's only $9.95 a month and allows you much better mapping than Google Maps."
Me: "Why won't Google Maps have my location if the GPS works with it?"
VZ Rep: "Because the GPS only provides LOCATION information to TeleNav, which is a paid service. You don't get to use the location services for free, sir."
Me: "But you said the GPS works with Google Maps."
VZ Rep: "Of course I did, because it does. It just doesn't provide location information."
Me: "If I purchased TeleNav, would the GPS provide location information to Google Maps?"
VZ Rep: "Why would you want Google Maps if you had TeleNav?"
Me: "Let me ask this another way. There's a third party application called BlackStar that does Geocaching. If I purchased TeleNav, would the GPS provide location information to that application?"
VZ Rep: "No, the GPS is designed to provide location to TeleNav only. It works with everything, but we can't afford to give the location away to just any old application, that costs us a lot of money you know."
Me: "(long pause), OK, Thanks for your time. Have a nice day."

So releasing phones without the features promised and advertised is not a new phenomenon.

I hesitated for a LONG time before getting my Thunderbolt and going back to Verizon.

I later found out that Verizon eventually unlocked the GPS for use with Google Maps, but they never did turn it on for other third-party apps, even though "GPS LOCATION SERVICES" remained in the adverts until the phone was discontinued.

Since you didn't type in any number to dial, that is why it is not dialing when you press CALL.
