Welp, I guess I'm sticking with the V20 for at least a another year.

Hhhhmmm this looks like an easy pass.

Had the V10. Using the V20 now. And I think LG just lost me as a customer.

I’m with ya it looks like all the other glass back phones on the market and nothing made me say ooh I want to spend my cash on that. I will keep my V20 but at this time most likely my last LG device. The Note 8 I may just trade in my G4 for then sell it with the bonus items to make some cash.

Moto Z2 Play + battery mod is the only alternative to removable battery.

This is why i was considering the z2 force and 2 battery mods before it was announced. Just swap the mods like a removable battery. Too bad that phone ended up being garbage.

The mate 10 is probably the only phone that i will consider for the rest of the year. If not, i have no problem hanging onto the v20. I believe the mate 9 at least had an ir blaster?

Just as an fyi, if you (like me) hate how slow the v20 snaps pictures in low light, the modded Google camera apk with zero shutter lag and always on hdr is working really well in my short time testing it. If it can produce usable pictures of my kids while they're moving as well as the s7 edge could, i don't think I'll feel the need to upgrade at all anymore.

The Z2 Play will be a good buy if the price drops. $500 is asking too much, especially compared to the OP5. I'm most likely getting the OP5 by the end of the year, but may get the Z2 Play if there's a sale. I couldn't even begin to consider the Force with its bottom bezel. It's huge and bothers me.

Here is why I love removable batteries. I have a charging kit that came with a spare battery. One battery is always charging. When the battery in my phone gets low, I swap it with the charged battery in the charger. I never plug a cable into my phone. And since my phone is in constant use, I end up swapping batteries several times a day.

I'd pretty much have to stay tethered to a charger most of the time, without having a removable battery.

Yuck.
I also have a charging kit with a second battery. I don't typically need to swap batteries, but it's nice to be able to do so if needed.

I do not see the V30 as an upgrade . I really thought LG would maintain the V line of phones unique instead of just following the Samsung design. They came out with a close enough Samsung clone with the G6. To me personally the V30 is just another version of the G6. My V20 with 2 spare batteries and charger will surffice just fine for another year, by then maybe this trend of tall skinny screens and small sealed batteries will change.

To me, it looks like a lateral upgrade. Although from today's pics, the device looks very nice. Improved DAC which is huge for me. A new floating "2nd screen" replaces the current version found on both the V10 & V20....

I'm on the fence as I see no significant reason for this upgrade. I might or might not pre order this device. Like I said, I'm on the fence...

Once I get over the "Ooooooooh The Shiny New Toy" hype, I'll be in a better position to make a final decision.

Judging from the mophie one for the S8, no they're not really.

OK, expensive as **** then, especially because I'd probably want two.

Link to APK?

I don't think we will ever see another un-sealed phone after the V20. I just don't see the industry changing to that old school of technology. Waterproof phones that support wireless charging is what most people think they want now but the damn batteries have to be much larger capacity for me to upgrade to a sealed phone. I will limp along with my V20 and 3 batteries for the next 1.5 years :)

Oh ok gotcha. I have about $300 left on my V20 which I can pay off early. Then I'm going to opt into T-Mobile's Jump on Demand plan and use that for semi-annual upgrades and always have the V20 as A backup device.

Before you drink the T-Mobile kool-Aid find someone with their service in your area to see how well that perform. My brother has them and it is bad in his area.
